Haul Truck Driver

Position Summary

The Haul Truck Driver plays a critical role in the construction industry by safely and efficiently transporting heavy materials, equipment, and debris across a Port Environment. This position requires operating large haul trucks under varying site conditions to support project timelines and maintain workflow continuity. The driver must ensure all loads are secured and comply with safety regulations to prevent accidents and material loss. Effective communication with site supervisors and team members is essential to coordinate deliveries and pickups in a timely manner. Ultimately, the Haul Truck Driver contributes to the overall success of construction projects by maintaining high standards of safety, reliability, and operational efficiency.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Operate haul trucks to transport construction materials, soil, rocks, and debris between designated locations on-site.
• Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections to ensure vehicle safety and report any mechanical issues promptly.
• Secure loads properly to prevent shifting or spillage during transit, adhering to all safety and regulatory guidelines.
• Coordinate with site supervisors and other team members to schedule and prioritize hauling tasks effectively.

Required Qualifications:

• Valid driver's license
• Proven experience operating haul trucks or similar heavy equipment in a construction or mining environment.
• Strong understanding of safety protocols and regulations related to heavy vehicle operation.
• Ability to perform routine vehicle inspections and basic maintenance checks.
• Physical capability to handle the demands of the job, including climbing in and out of trucks and working in various weather conditions.

Preferred Experience:

• Familiarity with site-specific safety standards such as OSHA regulations.
• Previous training or certification in heavy equipment operation or defensive driving.
• Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with diverse teams on-site.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to stand, walk, climb, and operate equipment for extended periods.
• Ability to work in outdoor conditions, including exposure to heat, cold, rain, and snow.
• Ability to sit for extended periods of time
• Required use of PPE (hard hat, safety vest, steel‑toe boots) in operational areas.

Work Environment:

• Outdoor port and terminal environment with exposure to weather, noise, dust, and heavy machinery.
• Fast-paced, safety-sensitive setting requiring coordination with marine crews, yard personnel, and equipment operators.
• Flexible schedule required, including shift work, extended hours, and weekends based on vessel and operational needs.
