- Enthusiastic and willingness to learn. General Description The Paid Prevention Intern (PPI) is a 12-month, grant funded, part-time position working and learning in a NYS OASAS Prevention program. The PPI is designed to offer an entry level pathway to individuals interested in the Prevention field and ultimately in pursuing a Certified Prevention Professional (CPP) or Certified Prevention Specialist (CPS) credential. Completion of the internship guarantees an individual 60 hours of Prevention-specific education and training.
Essential Duties
- and Responsibilities Learns the process of identifying the needs of a community.
- Learns about and utilize Evidence Based Programs (EBP) to assess needs of individuals, families, and the community.
- Develops and implements Environmental Change Strategy efforts.
- Participates in community engagement; attends community meetings, collaborates with community coalitions, and task forces, and strengthens community relationships.
- Works closely with community stakeholders including service providers, schools, law enforcement, and local businesses to provide prevention education and tools.
- Aids the agency with development and implementation of new workshops and initiatives to serve the community.
- Meets regularly with supervisor to receive necessary training and supervision to be able to complete all tasks.
