POSITION SUMMARY:
The CNC Lathe Machinist is responsible for machining complex parts to high-tolerance design specifications on a CNC lathe with 4th-axis live tooling, in an accurate, timely, and cost-effective manner.
KEY POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES:
· Operates all equipment and tools with the utmost attention to safety and professionalism
· Able to read and properly interpret machine drawings
· Independently sets up and operates a CNC lathe
· Selects appropriate tools, machines, and materials to be used for machining work
· Capable of performing quality control functions on the CNC lathe (offset adjustment)
· Aligns/ secures holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, and materials onto machines
· Monitors the feed and speed of machines during the machining process
· Observes and listens to operating machines or equipment to diagnose machine malfunctions and to determine the need for adjustments or repairs
· Measures, examines, and tests completed parts to detect defects and ensure conformance to specifications
· Ensures all work is performed to the highest standards of quality and safety
SKILLS AND CERTIFICATIONS:
MINIMUM EDUCATION:
High School diploma or general education degree (GED)
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE:
A minimum of 4 years’ machining experience with a CNC lathe
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
· Exerts up to 75 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds frequently and/or up to 10 pounds constantly to move objects
· Willingness to assist with duties in other departments when needed
