Role Overview:
Reporting to the Head of Operations, the Senior Quantity Surveyor is responsible for the management and performance of the Quantity Surveying functions ensuring contractual and commercial compliance of contracts and projects. Working with a fast-paced environment, you will also be responsible for assisting and ensuring all works are delivered in line with client and internal KPI's and targets, along with ensuring the company Health, Safety, Quality & Environmental standards are achieved.
Key Activities / Responsibilities:
- Operational and commercial management of MTC Works.
- Management of MTC QS team daily operations in accordance with targets and ensuring timelines are met. Leading huddles to ensure effective communication within team and shared with operations teams.
- Building strong relationships client and supply chain relationships by working in collaborate manner.
- Setting budgets and agreeing specification for works pre-start and closely monitoring throughout to ensure project targets are achieved.
- Provide contractual and cost advise to operational staff.
- Tracking trends and reporting of issues of operations including productivity.
- Reviewing contract compliance and communicating with Teams to resolve any non-compliances.
- Auditing jobs completions and submissions ensuring all contract compliances are provided for and works completed are accurately invoiced for.
- Auditing monthly accounts to identify failings and areas for improvement and reporting these for actions.
- Procurement, negotiation, and cost management of Subcontractor packages.
- Preparation, costing and submission of Early Warning and Compensation Event Notifications in line with NEC contract requirements.
- Quality audit of works from site records and on site surveys to ensure works have been completed to client instructions and contract specifications.
- Preparation and submission of job costs in line with the contract Schedule of Rates.
- Managing Working in Progress reporting process, publishing WIP for collection and ensuring all completed and checked by Managers and QS within target dates.
- Preparation and presentation of Working in Progress and Cost Value Reconciliation internal reports.
- Resolving day to day issues and contract disputes as they arise. negotiating with client on disputes and resolve.
- Work in accordance with strict client KPI’s particularly Time, Cost and Quality.
- Build strong client and supply chain relationships by working in a collaborative manner ensuring repeat business and service.
- Estimating and preparation of tenders Attend client meetings, representing CFM in positive and professional light • Provide support and mentoring manage junior staff by planning and resourcing the staff for each project, ensure training and support is in place for the team and ensure that due diligence is carried out on team outputs.
- As and when required provide support across Company departments.
Education / Experience:
Essential Criteria
- Possess a degree level qualification in construction
- 3-5 years' experience in a similar role.
- Commercially and operationally aware on delivery of works
- Experience and understanding of sub-contract management.
- Be able to demonstrate the knowledge and experience required to complete a project under budget, taking into consideration challenging time constraints.
- Experience of working in a fast paced, multi project, KPI pressured target environment.
- Experience of producing timely reports for director level.
- Experience of successful client liaison and business development.
- IT literate - Microsoft Office package
