We are seeking a Network Designer, Facilities & Power to support the design and implementation of telecommunications facilities, including central offices, remote huts, cabinets, and points of presence (POPs). This role is responsible for developing construction-ready designs covering facility layouts, DC power systems, battery backup, standby generation, environmental systems, bills of material, and project cost estimates.

A key focus of the role is establishing and maintaining standardized facility and power designs, ensuring consistency, scalability, and operational efficiency across the network. Working closely with technical and operational teams, the successful candidate will support new site deployments, facility upgrades, procurement planning, and construction activities.

Key Responsibilities

Develop standardized facility, power, and equipment designs for telecom sites.
Produce inside plant layouts, rack elevations, power distribution, grounding, and cable management designs.
Design and size DC power, battery backup, standby generation, and environmental systems.
Prepare construction packages, technical drawings, specifications, and as-built documentation.
Develop bills of material, cost estimates, and procurement support documentation.
Review installation progress, respond to field inquiries, and support commissioning activities.
Collaborate with network, outside plant, project management, and operations teams to ensure successful project delivery.

Required Qualifications
Diploma or degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering Technology or equivalent experience.
Minimum 3 years of experience in telecommunications facilities, inside plant, central office, data centre, or related electrical infrastructure design.
Knowledge of -48V DC power systems, batteries, generators, and power distribution.
Ability to create and interpret single-line diagrams, equipment layouts, and construction drawings.
Proficiency with AutoCAD and Microsoft Excel.
Strong estimating, documentation, and organizational skills.
Ability to work independently and coordinate with remote teams and contractors.
Valid driver's licence and willingness to travel to project sites as required.

Working Conditions

Remote position with regular video collaboration with the team, field staff, and contractors
Occasional travel to sites, some by air or water, where conditions can include ladders, outdoor cabinets, restricted spaces, and adverse weather
Occasional after-hours or weekend work for maintenance windows, cutovers, and outages
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and to access equipment at height and in restricted spaces
