    Job description

We’re unique.  You should be, too.

We’re changing lives every day.  For both our patients and our team members. Are you innovative and entrepreneurial minded? Is your work ethic and ambition off the charts?  Do you inspire others with your kindness and joy?

We’re different than most primary care providers. We’re rapidly expanding and we need great people to join our team.

You will direct, design, and support software projects across ChenMed, partnering with product, engineering, and business stakeholders to deliver reliable, scalable solutions. This role requires both independent work and cross-functional collaboration. You are expected to make sound technical decisions, drive them forward, and unblock delivery without relying on direct management oversight. You will guide architecture and implementation choices, mentor software developers, and serve as the technical lead for small to medium-sized engineering teams.

    • Build vs. buy: Evaluate and recommend build-versus-buy options, including vendor assessment, total cost of ownership, integration effort, and long-term maintainability.

    • Project support: Partner with stakeholders to clarify requirements, break multi-month initiatives into actionable work for the team, identify risks, and support projects from conception through production.

    • Mentorship: Coach and mentor software developers on architecture, design patterns, coding practices, and professional growth.

    • Cross-functional collaboration: Work across product, engineering, operations, and business teams to align technical solutions with organizational needs.

    • Decision ownership: Make pragmatic technical decisions, document rationale, and move initiatives forward with minimal escalation.

    • Quality and standards: Promote engineering best practices and ensure designs account for non-functional requirements (security, scalability, reliability, performance, and cost) alongside maintainability, observability, and testability.

    • Adaptive approach: Staying ahead of emerging industry trends and evolving technologies to proactively inform and adapt technical decisions in line with modern ways of working.
