    Job description

    Role Overview:
You have already gained valuable experience in the Financial Lines segment at an insurance carrier or broker. Now, you’re ready to leverage that foundation and propel your career forward—stepping into a role that grants you access to prestigious accounts and challenges you with more complex, technical, and intellectually stimulating risks to underwrite.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to elevate their expertise and make a significant impact within our Major Accounts segment.
As a Financial Lines Underwriter, you will focus on underwriting large and complex accounts within the Financial Lines portfolio (Management Liability and Financial Institutions). The ideal candidate will be a strong influencer, able to effectively manage referrals and secure approvals, while building trusted relationships with brokers and clients.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Underwrite and manage a portfolio of major accounts, ensuring underwriting integrity and adherence to guidelines.
    • Achieve quote and hit rates for new business, with a focus on major and complex accounts.
    • Collaborate with other lines of business and sales teams to target and secure key accounts.
    • Maintain an up-to-date new business pipeline and proactively review renewal strategies to achieve retention and rate objectives.
    • Anticipate and manage the referral process to local, regional, and global underwriting leadership, using strong influencing skills to obtain timely approvals.
    • Ensure underwriting rationale is robust and well-documented for each account.
    • Develop and maintain close relationships with key broker teams and major clients, supporting sales and market-facing activities.
    • Participate in major account meetings and communicate proactively with the Head of Financial Lines regarding key figures and market conditions.
    • Manage policy wording in line with underwriting guidelines, in collaboration with regional and wording specialists.
    • Embed cross-sell and growth thinking into daily underwriting practices.
    • Ensure timely and accurate booking of business.
    • Communicate effectively with senior management as required (e.g., escalation processes).

    Qualifications

    Qualifications:

    • Previous experience required in underwriting Financial Lines products (Management Liability and/or Financial Institutions) at an insurance carrier or broker, with a focus on major accounts.
    • Strong influencing and negotiation skills, particularly in managing the referral process and securing approvals.
    • Proven track record of working with top brokers and major clients.
    • Results-driven, able to make independent decisions and work proactively.
    • Recognized as an experienced professional in the market.
    • Legal or financial academic background combined with insurance expertise preferred.
    • Comprehensive understanding of the insurance market and competitors.
