The Special Projects Department (SPD) is seeking to appoint two (2) Custodians at the Port Vila Temple. This is a permanent, full-time position reporting directly to the Custodial Supervisor. The Custodian is responsible for maintaining the sanctity, cleanliness, and beauty of the temple interior, as well as the ancillary buildings within the temple grounds. This will help in ensuring that members can worship, serve, teach, learn, pray, make covenants, and participate in sacred ordinances in an environment that reflects the Lord’s standards.
Clean and care for all assigned areas, ensuring they meet the pristine standards of the Lord’s house

Maintain open and clear communications with the team, making sure to report any concerns, queries, hazards or damages to your supervisor
Demonstrate being prompt, diligent, consistent, and willing
Clean, move or replace rugs, furniture, draperies, chandeliers, and other items as needed. When requested, aid in setting up meeting rooms and other areas
Use cleaning agents and chemicals responsibly, adhering to safety protocols and wearing appropriate safety equipment
Skilfully use motorised equipment such as vacuums and buffers, as well as hand tools and other motorised tools, to achieve exceptional cleaning results
Undergo safety and equipment training to ensure the highest level of safety and efficiency in your work
2 years of any combination of related experience or progress towards or completion of a relevant university (post-secondary) degree or an industry-recognized certification.
Must have a positive attitude with the ability to work in a team.
Must certify in the use of any needed equipment including sweepers, buffers, lifts, carpet cleaning machinery, high rise power washers, etc.
Ability to understand basic instructions, complete basic tasks, and handle basic issues and problems.
Able to independently lift and position objects weighing up to 50 lbs./23 kg and team lift and position objects weighing up to 100 lbs./45 kg occasionally.
Ability to stand, walk, kneel, squat, stoop, push, pull, twist, bend, and perform repetitive movements for extended periods of time.
Ability to work from ladders, scaffolds, and mechanical lifts for extended periods of time.
Ability to work with commercial-grade cleaners and chemicals and comply with all regulations associated with the handling of chemicals.
Understanding of storage, disposal, and proper handling of cleaning chemicals and hazardous materials.
Good understanding of the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
Proof of legal right to work in Vanuatu
A police background check is required
