Ciena is seeking a Network Engineer to contribute to IP and Optical network transformation initiatives. This role supports deployment, integration, migration, upgrade, and troubleshooting activities across customer networks. The position partners with cross-functional teams to deliver network modernization projects across IP/MPLS and Optical technologies.
How you will make an impact:
Deliver IP/MPLS and Optical network deployment, integration, commissioning, and upgrade activities.
Create and maintain LLD, NDD, DCN designs, network diagrams, MoPs/EMOPs, and ATP documentation.
Translate HLD requirements into detailed implementation designs in collaboration with senior engineers.
Execute in-service network migration and modernization activities with minimal customer impact.
Perform pre-checks, post-checks, service validation, and acceptance testing.
Troubleshoot IP, Optical, hardware, software, and NMS-related issues and contribute to RCA activities.
Identify automation, process improvement, and network optimization opportunities.
The must haves:
Education: Bachelor's degree in Telecommunications, Electronics, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
Experience: 2+ years of relevant experience in IP, Optical, Telecom, or Network Engineering.
Application of Ethernet, IP, OSPF, IS-IS, BGP, MPLS, L2/L3 VPN, and BFD technologies.
Knowledge of DWDM, OTN, SDH, Long-Haul, and Metro Optical networks.
Utilization of DCN and Network Management Systems.
Experience with network deployment, commissioning, upgrades, or migrations.
Hands-on experience with telecom/networking equipment deployment and troubleshooting.
Nice to haves:
Knowledge of Segment Routing and EVPN.
Experience troubleshooting IP connectivity and routing issues.
Understanding of optical link architecture, alarms, and performance monitoring.
Experience with Optical NMS.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Background working independently and collaboratively with customers and cross-functional teams.
Basic knowledge of Python and automation.
