Job Description
The Server is responsible for courteously serving resident and guest meals, and for clean-up and resetting of dining room following meal service.
Responsibilities
- Assists residents when placing orders from the menu.
- Provides beverage service, including water, iced tea, juices, milk, and coffee/tea.
- Refills salt, pepper, and sugar bowls before and after each meal.
- Reports any broken equipment or tableware to the supervisor.
- Understands sit-down service and proper serving techniques.
- Demonstrates a basic understanding of food preparation, including salads, desserts, and other menu items.
- Maintains knowledge of proper food storage and labeling techniques.
- Sweeps, mops, and vacuums the kitchen and dining room.
- Attends all required in-services and staff meetings.
- Completes all other duties as assigned.
- Remains attentive to the special needs of residents, including mobility deficits, memory impairment, and other individual care needs.
- Assists with tray service as directed.
- Follows confidentiality policies regarding the release of resident information.
- Interacts with residents, guests, coworkers, and supervisors in a polite, considerate, and professional manner.
Requirements
- Must wear a clean, designated uniform during working hours and maintain good personal hygiene.
- Must be able to read and follow simple instructions.
- Must possess the ability to perform simple, repetitive tasks.
- Must be able to learn quickly and apply learned principles.
- Must be able to communicate effectively and work under close supervision.
- Must be able to bend, reach, grasp, push, and pull objects.
- Must be able to stand and walk for sustained periods of up to three (3) hours at a time.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. on a regular basis and carry heavy objects for a distance of 20 feet.
- Must be organized and willing to work effectively with other team members.
- Must be willing to work a flexible schedule that includes evenings, weekends, and holidays.
