Job Summary
A Sr. Banquet Captain is responsible for supervising the set up service and clean up of all assigned banquet functions.
Responsibilities
QUALIFICATIONS:
- At least 1 year of progressive experience in a hotel or a related field required. High School diploma or equivalent required.
- College course work in related field helpful.
- Previous supervisory responsibility preferred.
- Must be proficient in Windows 95 Company approved spreadsheets and word processing.
- Must be able to convey information and ideas clearly.
- Must be able to evaluate and select among alternative courses of action quickly and accurately.
- Must work well in stressful high pressure situations.
- Must maintain composure and objectivity under pressure.
- Must be effective in handling problems in the workplace including anticipating preventing identifying and solving problems as necessary.
- Must have the ability to assimilate complex information data etc. from disparate sources and consider adjust or modify to meet the constraints of the particular need.
- Must be effective at listening to understanding and clarifying the concerns and issues raised by co-workers and guests.
- Must be able to work with and understand financial information and data and basic arithmetic functions.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Ensure set up banquet room as instructed to include linen, service ware and glassware.Conduct line-up meetings before events to review function particulars, including guest and hotel expectations with the banquet staff, event manager, and banquets kitchen staffGreet and remain in contact with the client throughout the event, ensuring that all is going to plan and they are satisfied. Greet and respond to guest requests in a friendly, courteous, and prompt manner.Ensure that the F&B for client is in the order and to the expectation of the guest to ensure consistency throughout the banquet. Promptly remove dishes as guests complete each course and/or meal at the end of the meal or function. Attend weekly BEO meeting Assist Director of Catering with updating and maintaining standards for banquet presentation. Maintain monthly departmental inventories of all equipment and notify the F&B Manager and Director of Operations of all materials and equipment that require ordering or need to be replaced. Responsible for ongoing training of Captains and hourly employees to maintain standards of service, safety and guest service scores. Coach Banquet Captains and banquet staff on hotel standards and best practices for banquets. Supervise the work of Banquet Captains and observe the performance of hourly service personnel. Maintain banquet bar inventory and control and audit alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages. Manage the floor and remain in contact with culinary team and banquet team regarding changes and the timing of food.Abide by all State, Federal and Corporate requirements pertaining to serving alcoholic beverages.Replenish beverages as necessary, and check with guests for overall satisfaction.Once banquet is complete, reset banquet room according to Supervisor’s specifications to ensure the readiness of the room for the following function.Comply with attendance rules and be available to work on a regular basis.Perform any other job related duties as assigned.Property Details
