SUMMARY
Maintains all court records, assists defendants and citizens at the court service window, via telephone, and through mail and email. Ensures compliance with all court orders, state/local laws, and city policies. Advises the defendant of their rights regarding their citations.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
1. Prepares, organizes, and verifies docket of cases to be called.
2. Primary staff member responsible for working at the court service window, serves as secondary staff member to inbound phone calls.
3. Records case disposition, court orders, and arrangement for payment of court fines and fees. Collects court fees or fines and records amounts collected by working the court service window.
4. Processes requests for the driver safety course through correspondence.
5. Advises defendants of their rights regarding their citations and assists defendants and citizens via telephone and at the court service window.
6. Monitors compliance with court orders and takes necessary steps for sanctions when non-compliance occurs concerning defendants that requested the driver safety course.
7. Performs computer data entry and imports electronic citations into the Municipal Court software and verifies the entry for accuracy. Processes the driver’s license check through the State of Texas database to ensure accuracy.
8. Responsible for scanning all driver safety course documents, court forms, correspondence, and closed documents into the court software.
9. Processes weekly delinquent citations by notifying defendants through the mail.
10. Stock office supplies at the front counter as well as paper for the printer and copier.
11. May perform other assignments and handle special projects as required.
12. Regular and timely attendance is required, as well as, the ability to get along with others in a professional and cordial manner.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
One-year certificate from college or technical school; or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Desired: Municipal Court experience. Cashier/teller experience.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and in small group situations to defendants, citizens, and other employees of the organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
