Biological Technician

JOB SUMMARY:

Biological technicians will assist in field capture and monitoring of white-tailed deer near Aiken, South Carolina. Work will take place outdoors in a remote setting in a team environment, with additional wildlife monitoring tasks as assigned related to the project.

JOB DUTIES:

5% - Vehicle and equipment maintenance: Responsible for upkeep and reporting maintenance issues with vehicles, both belonging to Clemson and those borrowed or utilized by other partners.

15% - Data recording and validation: Development and use of data sheets and software interfaces for entering data and cross-validating records.

15% - Coyote, wild pig and other wildlife species monitoring: Participate in the capture of other wild animals, both in the context of animal handling and use of passive monitoring devices like camera traps. Employees will be responsible for checking devices, downloading data, and recording data using precise record keeping.

65% - Deer capture and monitoring: Use of devices that sedate and restrain deer for capture and placement of tracking devices. Subsequently track animals in a field setting and collect vegetation measurements at sites in addition to other field measurements.

COMPENSATION INFORMATION:

Expected Salary Range

20000 - 24000

Salary is dependent upon several factors including, but not limited to, a candidate's previous experience, knowledge, skills and performance in accordance with Clemson's compensation guidelines.

ESSENTIAL PERSONNEL LEVEL:

Normal Operations - Required to follow emergency facility closure and modified operations directives, and not normally expected to work on-site during emergency situations.
