Cleveland Clinic in Florida offers a full spectrum of treatment options for patients suffering chronic and acute pain from disease, surgery or trauma. The department is directed by anesthesiologists who are board-certified in pain management. By joining the Pain Management team as a Medical Assistant, you will collaborate with fellow staff to create a welcoming, comfortable environment for patients, families and visitors. You will assist with rooming patients, answering in-basket messages, helping the provider with procedures and scheduling outpatient procedures. All your work helps ensure the best possible health outcomes. Additionally, you will receive ample opportunities to enhance your skills through cross training and floating to other areas, gain hands-on experience and explore advanced positions at Cleveland Clinic.
A caregiver in this position works Monday-Friday from 8:00AM – 4:30PM.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
Assist with performing screening and treatments by gathering information related to health maintenance, collecting specimens and documenting patient care.
Update health maintenance at patient visits, accurately identify medication changes and update allergy information at each visit.
Monitor and communicate changes in patient condition.
Administer specific medications under the direction of the provider.
Maintain equipment and medical supplies, including reordering, stocking, cleaning and troubleshooting.
Maintain examination areas.
Assist in pre-visit planning by updating the health maintenance tab.
Perform administrative or clerical duties as assigned, including filing, reception, scheduling, data entry and patient registration.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
Graduate from an accredited Medical Assisting Program
Military training as a Hospital Corpsman (HM), Combat Medic (68W) or Medical Service Technician (4N0X1) will be considered
Current demonstrated clinical proficiency
Completion of a clinical externship OR extensive clinical experience
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross required within new hire period
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
CMA, NCMA or CCMA certification
Successful completion of a CC Externship
