    📍 Manchester (with national travel)

We’re looking for a lawyer with experience in defending motor crime investigations and prosecutions to join our specialist Regulatory Crime Department in Manchester.

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a growing, market-leading team within a top 20 international law firm, recognised in the Legal 500 for its expertise in Motor Crime.

    The Opportunity

You’ll work on a high-quality, often high-profile caseload, representing clients across England & Wales—from early police investigations through to trial.

    Typical matters include:

    • Death by dangerous or careless driving
    • Serious injury by careless driving
    • Careless driving offences
    • Drink driving, speeding, no insurance

    You’ll gain exposure to:

    • Police station representation
    • Criminal court proceedings
    • Coroners’ Court work
    • Complex cases supported by leading experts and King’s Counsel

This is a unique chance to practice criminal defence within a corporate, insurer-backed environment (no legal aid work).

    The Team

    • One of the UK’s largest Regulatory Crime teams
    • 16 + specialist fee earners
    • National client base across insurers, corporates, and private individuals
    • Collaborative, supportive, and flexible working culture

    Who We’re Looking For

We’re open to a wide range of candidates, including:

    • NQ Solicitors, Legal Executives, and experienced lawyers (all PQE levels)
    • Defence or prosecution backgrounds

    You’ll ideally have:

    • Knowledge of the Criminal Justice System (England & Wales)
    • Experience with or exposure to motoring offences
    • Strong communication and client-handling skills
    • A proactive, resilient approach in a fast-paced environment
    • Willingness to travel nationally (full UK driving licence essential)

Advocacy experience is beneficial but not required.

    What You’ll Get

    • Ongoing training and investment in your development
    • Clear progression opportunities within a growing team
    • Exposure to complex, high-value, and high-profile work
    • A supportive, people-focused culture

If you’re looking to develop a specialist career in Motor Crime whilst working in a truly corporate environment, this is an excellent opportunity to do so.
