The Shop Helper assists all personnel and managers in maintenance tasks as requested and is responsible for maintaining cleanliness of all Shop areas.
Essential Functions and Duties:
- Ability to take direction for tasks and to learn new skills
- Provide assistance as needed to all Shop personnel and management
- Be able to prep vehicles and equipment for painting, including sanding and doing work requiring the use of a respirator or mask
- Be able to remove wheels and parts on trailers and trucks
- Must maintain Shop cleanliness in all areas, including areas only accessible by ladder or lift
- Be able to use computer systems to research and order parts as directed and communicate with vendors
- Must be able to drive to pick-up or deliver parts as needed
- All other duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Must have some knowledge of Shop equipment and tools
- Must be computer proficient
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds with or without assistance
- Must be able to climb a ladder and work at a variety of heights
- Excellent computer proficiency
- Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary customer service
- Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices
Required Education and Experience:
- Prefer: Prior Shop or maintenance experience
- Required: High school diploma or GED
Working Conditions:
- Indoors/ Outdoors in Shop that may not be heated or cooled
- Frequent lifting, standing, squatting and walking
- Dusty environment where use of respirator or face mask may be necessary
- Facility where chemicals and paint are used
