    About the Role:

Reporting to the Science Manager and working closely with the Science team, you will ensure CCAMLR's scientific data is accurate, accessible, and well documented — loading fisheries and ecosystem monitoring data into our databases, developing and implementing quality control checks, maintaining database documentation, and keeping data holdings current. You'll also respond to data requests and work on key annually produced documents such as the Fishery Reports for the Scientific Committee. You will have a hands-on role during CCAMLR meetings, including supporting Commission and Scientific Committee meetings through logistics and rapporteuring.

To be successful, you will have:

    • A Bachelor’s degree in marine biology, ecology, fishery sciences, or a related field with at least two years of relevant work experience.
    • Experience working with relational databases
    • Demonstrated ability to analyse and summarise data using R
    • Sharp attention to detail, with the ability to analyse and compare data across multiple sources
    • Strong interpersonal skills
    • Flexibility to work independently and collaboratively, meeting deadlines amid competing priorities
    • A genuine passion for Antarctic marine science, and a commitment to fostering an inclusive, equitable workplace

    Desirable:

    • Master’s degree in marine biology, ecology, fishery sciences, or a related field
    • Experience taking minutes and summarising discussions
    • Experience with software such as R, SQL Server Management Studio, Microsoft Access in working with relational databases
    • Basic version control experience using Git.

    Why Choose CCAMLR?

    • Meaningful work: Make a real difference by contributing to the conservation of Antarctic marine life
    • Generous leave: 6 weeks of annual leave

    • Annual salary starting at $79,207 + super and benefits
