About the role
As a Skilled Maintenance Craftsperson, you'll play a key role in preserving some of the world's most important commemorative sites. From headstone installation and repairs to memorial maintenance, alignment work and inspections, you'll help ensure our sites remain safe, dignified and maintained to the highest standards. The role includes hands-on maintenance such as headstone installation, alignment, cleaning, repairs and inspections.
No two days are the same. One day you could be restoring memorials in a rural churchyard, and the next you could be working as part of a team delivering larger projects across the region.

Location: Mobile role. You must be within a reasonable commute of <insert location>.
Contract Type: <XX Months Fixed Term / Permanent>
Salary: £xx,xxx per annum, depending on skills and experience.
Hours: Full Time. Average of 37 hours per week worked seasonally.

We take a conservation-based and sustainable approach to maintaining our sites and conserving our heritage estate; maintenance work and repairs are performed by our own in-house specialists, and we are excited to offer this opportunity for an experienced Skilled Maintenance Craftsperson join our team carrying out structural maintenance of the war graves and memorials in our care in the <Enter Region> area.
This is a mobile role with lots of travel. Most of the time you will be working alone. You will have use of a van for work purposes. Ideally we would like you to be comfortable and experienced driving a vehicle up to 3.5 tons, however, training will be provided. The role is practical, hands-on and requires a decent level of physical fitness. There may be occasions to stay overnight, and costs will be covered.
Pesticide Certificates (PA1 and PA6) and NAMM (National Association of Memorial Masons) membership are required for this role, and the Commission is willing to provide you with the necessary support and training to gain these qualifications.

You will be able to demonstrate:
· Full UK driving licence essential
· Knowledge of Manual Handling principles
· Knowledge of Lone Working policies
· Reasonable knowledge of general building practices
· Manual technical skills
· Management of third-part stakeholders, such as site contractors
· Good organisational, resource and time management skills
· Good level of computer literacy or ability to learn quickly
· Commitment to providing excellent customer service
· Able to work effectively and safely alone, as well as within a team
· Willingness to take on/seek additional responsibilities
