Responsibilities

In your role, you will:

• Prepare exam room and ultrasound equipment to conduct sonography examinations in accordance with infection prevention, sterilization, and patient safety protocols, policies and procedures.
• Review patient medical history and supporting clinical information. Reload prior exams for comparison.
• Explain the examination process to the patient. Instruct and assist the patient in assuming the physical position for examination and throughout the procedure.
• Assess patient pain interfering with imaging procedure - makes appropriate physician contact for intervention.
• Select a transducer and adjust the equipment controls according to the organ to be examined, the depth of field and other specifications of test. Move transducer over a specified area of the body and observe sound wave display screen to monitor quality of ultrasonic pattern produced.

Qualifications

Education

• High School Diploma, High School Equivalency (HSE), or Completion of a CHS Approved Individualized Education Plan (IEP) Certificate required

• Fulfill prerequisite of American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS), the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT), or Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) certification required

Experience

• 1 year of clinical experience in diagnostic medical sonography and ability to demonstrate required competency required

• Demonstrated ability to perform all exams based on facility requirements required

Licenses and Certifications

• BLS - Current Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers by American Heart Association (AHA) required

    • ARRT(VS) - ARRT Vascular Sonography

    • RVS - CCI Registered Vascular Specialist
