- Position: Clinical Research Coordinator
- Location: Grand Valley Oncology
- Schedule: Monday - Friday (days), with occasional weekends/evenings
Responsibilities:
Regulatory & Compliance
- Help protect patients and study integrity by applying Human Subjects Protection, Good Clinical Practice, HIPAA, and other relevant standards.
- Play a key role in patient safety by identifying, tracking, and reporting adverse events and protocol deviations in accordance with study requirements.
- Take ownership of essential regulatory activities, from preparing and maintaining documents to coordinating monitoring, audit, and study closeout visits.
- Keep studies moving forward through timely, accurate CRF data entry and prompt query resolution.
Study Coordination & Patient Care
- Partner closely with Principal Investigators (PIs) to guide patient screening and enrollment, review medical charts, assess eligibility, support informed consent discussions, and manage study data.
- Create a smooth, well-coordinated experience for research participants by organizing study visits, supporting protocol adherence, and bringing care teams together when needed.
- Build strong connections among healthcare teams, participants, and study partners to support protocol compliance and high-quality patient care.
- Be a trusted resource for patients, families, and providers by sharing clear clinical trial information, facilitating referrals, and maintaining responsive communication.
- Apply your clinical skills through research-related procedures such as vital signs, electrocardiograms (ECG/EKG), questionnaires, specimen collection and processing, lab kit inventory, investigational drug accountability, and other delegated activities.
Study Operations & Financial Coordination
- Gain broad exposure to the business of clinical research by supporting study start-up and financial activities, including CDA review, feasibility analysis, activation, invoicing, reconciliation, and CTMS protocol builds.
- Support accurate, patient-centered study administration by preparing billing slips, assisting with invoicing, and coordinating patient stipend payments.
- Contribute ideas that improve workflows and enhance the research experience for patients while upholding regulatory standards.
Professional & Community Engagement
- Bring the department’s perspective to institutional committees and help shape collaborative research efforts.
- Help expand awareness of clinical research through community outreach and education for internal and external audiences.
- Grow your expertise through virtual, online, and self-directed learning, then share timely updates on research regulations and best practices with the team.
Team Collaboration & Support
- Strengthen team confidence and study quality by offering guidance, sharing expertise, and conducting secondary eligibility checks against inclusion and exclusion criteria.
Requirements:
- Associate’s degree in a health sciences or related field or equivalency (Two years of related work experience can be substituted for one year of education.)
- Two (2) years of relevant experience.
- Moderate knowledge of Medical Terminology, Human Anatomy, and Biology.
- Understanding of Medical Billing and Insurance processes.
- ACRP/SOCRA certification must be obtained within six (6) months of eligibility.
- Completion of the following training within 30 days of hire: Human Subjects Protection, Good Clinical Practice, HIPAA, Bloodborne Pathogens, Personal Protective Equipment, and IATA.
Compensation:
The anticipated compensation range for this position is $28.00 -$32.20 per hour, commensurate with qualifications, education, experience, and other applicable factors. This position is non-exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act.
Additional compensation may be available in the form of discretionary incentive or other compensation programs. Any such additional compensation is not guaranteed and is determined at the sole discretion of the organization based on applicable program terms, individual and/or organizational performance, and other eligibility requirements.
