Position Summary:

The Paraprofessional for School Age Program will foster a safe and supportive environment in the After-School program for children with learning, emotional, or behavioral challenges. The role focuses on providing individualized support to help these children successfully integrate into the program.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

1. Offer one-on-one support to children aged 5-13 with special emotional or learning needs within the after-school program.
2. Build positive, trusting relationships with children through effective relationship-building techniques.
3. Assist in the child’s involvement in all program routines, including peer interactions and group activities.
4. Follow the guidance of their supervisor regarding child behavior management.
5. Implement recommended interventions, using sensory and emotional support tools, and respond appropriately to the child’s behaviors.
6. Observe and provide feedback on the effectiveness of interventions to support the child’s self-regulation.
7. Ensure the child’s safety at all times, manage unsafe behaviors, and report concerns to the Site Manager.
8. Communicate with parents at the end of the shift, as needed, in coordination with the Site Manager.
9. Report any concerns to the School Age Inclusion Specialist.
10. Collaborate professionally with School Age and clinical staff.
11. Participate in staff meetings and required training sessions.
12. Uphold the values of CTI – Equity, Integrity, Compassion.

The duties listed above are representative of the work performed. Other related duties may be assigned.

Qualifications:

1. High School diploma or equivalent required.
2. Experience working with school-age children in an educational or childcare setting is required.
3. Ability to engage and connect positively with individual children.
4. Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a team.
5. Strong communication skills and the ability to follow directions.
6. Ability to pass background check which includes fingerprinting.
7. Recent physical exam and proof of MMR vaccination are required.
8. Availability from 2-6 PM on most weekdays is essential.

Preferred Qualifications:

1. Experience with children who have behavioral, developmental, or emotional challenges.
2. Bilingual skills (English/Spanish, English/Khmer English/Portuguese)

The base salary range represents the Agency’s good-faith estimate of the compensation for this role at the time of posting. Actual compensation within the range will be based on factors such as experience, skills, and qualifications.
