The Organization CHI St. Francis Health is a faith-based health care ministry serving a population near the head of the Red River basin, located in Breckenridge Minnesota. It was founded by the Franciscan Sisters of Little Falls in 1899 and is now part of Catholic Health Initiatives (CHI). The St. Francis Healthcare Campus includes a general medical and surgical hospital and combined nursing home. The hospital is a licensed 25-bed Critical Access Hospital (CAH) that is the acute care component of a new, $26 Million Hospital and Nursing Home campus that was built on the north edge of town in 2006. Last year almost 6,000 patients visited the hospital's emergency room. The hospital had a  total of 1,020 admissions. Its physicians performed 165 inpatient and 1,202 outpatient surgeries and there were 170 live births. There are about a dozen local area physicians across multiple specialties that are affiliated with the hospital. The hospital owns the Milnor Clinic, which is located about 40 miles from the hospital in Milnor, North Dakota. It also just opened a walk-in clinic on its main campus.The hospital has a swing bed program, and it operates a busy medical wellness – rehabilitative service with aquatic therapy. The St. Francis Nursing Home is licensed for 120 beds. Of these, 80 beds are operating and 40 beds are “on hold.” The Nursing Home is a CMS Five-Star Quality Rated facility with high-quality resident-centered care and wonderful reputation in the area. Some of the nursing staff are cross-trained to be able to work in both the hospital and the nursing home. CHI St. Francis Health is financially sound with a history of recent positive margins. It is anticipating a 2016/2017 net revenue budget of $33 Million.
