Network Technician II

SUMMARY
Performs installation, maintenance and troubleshooting of power, access, transport and core equipment to ensure reliability and quality delivery of telephone, data and cable TV services at the Central Office, headend and remote sites. Assists Network Technician I and others as required.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Maintenance of core, transport, access and headend equipment.
• Troubleshooting and network problem determination.  Monitoring and testing network performance.
• Equipment installation at Central Office, headend and remote sites.
• Circuit installation, documentation, testing and maintenance.
• Maintains Central Office and headend inventory and records.
• Installs and maintains DC power equipment, including rectifiers, UPS and battery backup systems in Central Office, headend and remote sites.
• Provides guidance to Network Technician I.  Assists other workgroups with escalations.
• Assists with other work assignments related to group.

REQUIREMENTS

• High School Diploma/GED required; 2 year technical degree preferred
• 2 years experience working with technologies used in Network Services.
• Computer literate.  Able to diagnose and correct problems.
