    Job description

    Under the general supervision of the Chief Deputy Clerk, performs a variety of complex clerical tasks involving  the processing, review, and filing of legal documents pertaining to Juvenile Court matters. Provides information and assistance regarding Juvenile Court procedures to attorneys and the public. Opens and closes cases, receipts monies, provides counter assistance, and reviews files for Court action.

    This is a full-time position (40 hours per week).

    Responsibilities: 

    § Receive, file and distribute court documents.

    § Review filings for completeness.

    § Process cases and court orders through the case-management system.

    § Prepare and process notices and summonses.

    § Respond to inquiries from attorneys, the public, and other agencies and provide information regarding Court procedures.

    § Collect and receipt court fees and fines.

    § Contact and appoint counsel for parties to court cases.

    § Aid parties checking in and out of court.

    § Open and close cases.

    § Physical Requirements: Incumbent performs work that may require lifting up to twenty-five (25) pounds occasionally.

    • High school diploma or equivalent and two years of relevant office, administrative, legal, or court experience; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that provides the knowledge and skills necessary to perform the position.
    • Must be 21 years of age.
    • Successful completion of criminal background check and pre-employment drug screen.
    • Ability to type accurately and efficiently and to prepare and edit documents using standard office software.
    • Knowledge of record keeping practices, office administration and legal procedures.
    • Ability to review information for accuracy and completeness, identify issues requiring further attention, and exercise sound judgment within established Court procedures.
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products, such as Word, Outlook, Excel, and Teams.
    • Experience with court case management software preferred; ability and willingness to learn the Court’s case management system required.
    • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
    • Dependability, reliability, and ability to follow through on assignments.
    • Ability to interact professionally and maintain effective working relationships with the Judge, Magistrates, co-workers, attorneys, parties, and the public.
    • Ability to adapt to procedural changes in the workplace environment.
    • Strong organizational and time-management skills, including the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced environment while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
    • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
