Job Summary 

The Cook reports to the Executive Chef. He or she is accountable for playing their part in preparing and serving food that is consistently excellent. This person is a team player, carefully trained, multi-skilled, flexible, courteous and friendly.

The ideal candidate must:

• Have a minimum of three (3) CXC/GCE subjects including English 
• Have a minimum of one (1) year experience in this field
• Have working knowledge of culinary arts
• Have a valid Food Handler’s Permit
• Ensure that the satisfaction of the guest is the main purpose in the Kitchen
• Keep an eye on quality and product specifications
• Receive food items from stores and report any discrepancies to the relevant Manager/Supervisor.
• Have working knowledge of how to prepare meals in bulk
• Ensure good care and maintenance of all tools and equipment used
• Practice the HACCP system with special attention to general food safety and clean as you go
• Ensure the EarthCheck Standards on being environmentally friendly in the Kitchens is carefully followed.  
• Have the ability to withstand the physical demands of the job
• Be able to work flexible shifts
• Be able to work well with peers and leaders at all levels
