    Job description

Are you a compassionate, skilled technician ready to make an impact in a fast-paced, collaborative environment? At Hickory Veterinary and Specialty Hospital, we’re seeking Veterinary Technicians who are eager to grow, contribute to patient care excellence, and be part of a supportive team that feels like family.

We're excited to offer a $5,000 sign-on bonus, paid out in your very first paycheck, plus a $2,000 retention bonus once you hit your one-year anniversary with us. This is our way of saying welcome aboard and thank you for growing with our team!

    Our Mission

Rooted in over six decades of veterinary excellence, our mission is to enhance the lives of pets and their families by delivering thoughtful, collaborative, and high-quality care. If you’re passionate about mentorship, communication, and supporting both clients and coworkers, we’d love to connect with you.

    Who We Are

Located in Plymouth Meeting, PA, Hickory Veterinary and Specialty Hospital is a multi-service animal hospital offering general practice, specialty services, 24/7 emergency care, boarding, grooming, daycare, and rehabilitation. We’re known for our long-standing commitment to client relationships, high-quality medicine, and a team-first culture where every voice matters.

    What You’ll Do

As a Veterinary Technician, you’ll play a vital role in supporting our doctors and patients across various services. Whether you're assisting in surgery, monitoring hospitalized pets, or guiding clients through aftercare, your day will be filled with opportunities to make a difference.

    In this role, you will:

    • Provide clear, compassionate client communication and education
    • Maintain accurate medical records and patient logs (SOAPs)
    • Monitor hospitalized patients, collaborate on rounds, and support overnight emergencies (if applicable)
    • Participate in training and mentorship for new team members
    • Support your department’s organization, cleanliness, and inventory

You’ll be trained and encouraged to cross-train with different specialties (ER, anesthesia, surgery, internal medicine, and more), allowing you to broaden your skill set and explore different areas of interest.

    Anticipated Schedule

This is a full-time position currently offering four 10-hour or three 12-hour evening swing shifts. Schedule options include:

    • Thursday-Saturday 2pm-2am

    • Wednesday-Saturday 4pm-2am

    Compensation

    • $25-$26/hour, dependent upon experience and credentials

    What’s In It for You?

At Hickory, we take care of our team like we take care of our patients—with compassion and intention. You'll receive:

    • A supportive culture that fosters mentorship and growth
    • Continuing education and certification reimbursement (Fear Free, RECOVER, etc.)
    • Competitive paid time off & holiday pay
    • Paid volunteer hours
    • Medical, dental, and vision insurance
    • 401(k) with employer match
    • Employee pet care discounts
    • Uniform allowance
    • Opportunities for career advancement in a multi-service hospital

    What We’re Looking For

We’re seeking veterinary professionals who are confident, caring, and ready to grow. You’ll thrive in this role if you have:

    • Experience as a Veterinary Technician (credentialed or non-credentialed)
    • Proficiency in basic technical skills (IV catheter placement, anesthesia monitoring, lab work, triage, etc.)
    • Excellent communication, organization, and multitasking abilities
    • A strong work ethic and a team-first mentality
    • Passion for patient care and client support
    • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed
    • Fear-free certification is a plus

If you're ready to take the next step in your veterinary technician career and want to be part of a hospital where growth, teamwork, and compassion are core values—we want to hear from you!
