The Role

We're looking for a Backend Engineer (Intern) to join our engineering team and grow with us from day one. This is a hands-on role for someone at the start of their career: you'll write real code that ships, work on services and databases that power our products, and learn how a production system actually behaves under load. 

You won't be figuring things out alone. You'll be part of a team where experienced engineers support your growth through code reviews, pair programming, and everyday conversations about how and why we build things the way we do. We also expect you to use AI coding tools as part of your daily workflow: not as a shortcut around understanding, but as a way to move faster and learn more. 

Key Responsibilities

• Build and maintain backend features under the guidance of senior engineers. 

• Write and optimize SQL queries, and work with relational databases (MySQL/PostgreSQL) in day-to-day tasks. 

• Integrate with internal and third-party APIs. 

• Use AI coding assistants to write, refactor, and debug code. 

• Write tests and help keep our codebase clean and readable. 

• Take part in code reviews, stand-ups, and technical discussions. 

• Investigate bugs, reproduce issues, and propose fixes. 

Job requirements

What We're Looking For

You're curious, you finish what you start, and you're not afraid to say "I don't know this yet, let me figure it out." 

Must-haves:

• Basic programming skills in at least one backend programming language. 

• Basic understanding of relational databases (MySQL or PostgreSQL) and the ability to write simple SQL queries. 

• Hands-on experience using AI coding tools such as Claude Code, and a healthy critical eye toward what they produce. 

• Familiarity with Git and basic version control workflows. 

• Good English, enough to read documentation and communicate with an international team. 

• A genuine willingness to learn and take feedback. 

Nice-to-haves:

• Experience with Python or Node.js. 

• Understanding of caching concepts. 

• Familiarity with REST APIs, GraphQL, Docker, Linux basics. 

• Any personal projects, open-source contributions, or a GitHub profile you'd like to show us.
