Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Place, spread, consolidate, screed, level, and finish freshly poured concrete.
- Finish slabs, sidewalks, curbs, foundations, walls, ramps, and other concrete surfaces.
- Use hand tools and power equipment including floats, trowels, edgers, groovers, screeds, and power trowels.
- Create smooth, broom, hard-trowel, or other specified finishes.
- Check concrete surfaces for proper elevation, slope, flatness, and finish.
- Form and finish concrete edges and joints.
- Perform concrete patching and repair work.
- Install curing compounds and other concrete protection materials.
- Assist with concrete placement, vibration, and screeding.
- Monitor concrete conditions and determine proper timing for finishing operations.
- Maintain and clean concrete finishing tools and equipment.
- Coordinate with foremen and other crew members during concrete pours.
- Follow project plans, specifications, and quality requirements.
- Follow company safety policies and use required PPE.
Qualifications
- 2+ years of commercial concrete finishing experience preferred.
- Knowledge of concrete placement and finishing techniques.
- Experience using hand finishing tools, power trowels, and screeding equipment.
- Understanding of elevations, slopes, joints, and concrete tolerances preferred.
- Ability to recognize concrete conditions and determine appropriate finishing timing.
- Strong attention to detail and quality.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a concrete crew.
- Dependable attendance and willingness to work extended hours during concrete pours when necessary.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to regularly lift and carry 50–75 pounds.
- Ability to bend, kneel, crouch, stand, reach, push, and pull for extended periods.
- Ability to perform repetitive movements associated with concrete finishing.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
