We are looking for a Head of Compliance, Hong Kong to join our Risk & Compliance team. In this role you will join an international team of colleagues and be responsible for leading the Hong Kong Compliance function, providing compliance and regulatory oversight across the business and working closely with senior management, operational teams, regulators and regional stakeholders.

Some of the things you'll be doing:

As the Head of Compliance, Hong Kong, you will be responsible for:

• Leading the provision of compliance and regulatory advice and guidance to the business in line with enterprise and local policies, procedures and regulatory requirements.
• Working with business stakeholders to provide proactive compliance and regulatory advice in relation to new business opportunities, client onboarding, higher-risk activities and ongoing business operations.
• Managing the delivery of the annual Compliance Monitoring Programme and ensuring timely remediation of identified issues.
• Following regulatory trends and keeping track of changes to laws and regulations relevant to the Hong Kong business, including AML/CFT, sanctions and other regulatory requirements, and ensuring these are reflected in internal policies and controls.
• Communicating and providing guidance to the business on changes to policies and relevant regulatory or legal developments.
• Acting as the designated Compliance Officer, AML Compliance Officer (AMLCO) and/or Money Laundering Reporting Officer (MLRO), where required.
• Managing regulatory relationships and responding to enquiries from regulators, auditors and other key stakeholders.
• Collating and analysing management information and preparing compliance reports for local management, governance committees, regional leadership and Group Compliance.
• Supporting business initiatives, projects and strategic activities from a Compliance perspective.
• Managing the preparation and delivery of training on anti-money laundering, counter-terrorist financing, sanctions and other compliance-related matters.
• Ensuring all allocated tasks and regulatory obligations are proactively managed to resolution.
• Acting as a subject matter expert and providing technical advice and guidance to client-facing, operational and support teams.
• Establishing and maintaining strong working relationships across the business while providing guidance and support on compliance matters.
• Leading, developing and supporting members of the Compliance team, setting objectives and managing deliverables and performance.

What technical skills, experience and qualifications do you need?

Required qualifications:

• 10+ years of experience working within a Compliance, AML, Financial Crime Compliance or Risk function within financial services, corporate services, trust services or a related regulated industry.
• Significant experience in a management and leadership role.
• Strong knowledge of Hong Kong regulatory requirements, including AML/CFT obligations.
• Experience managing regulatory relationships, inspections and audits.
• Holding a relevant compliance qualification (e.g. ACAMS, ICA or equivalent).
• Proven management and leadership skills.
• Proven excellent interpersonal and people management skills.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
• Excellent time management skills and ability to work under pressure.
• Self-motivated and able to work without close supervision.
• Demonstrated effective communicator.
• Proven ability to work effectively as part of a team and across stakeholder groups.
• Excellent command of English, both written and verbal.

Preferred:

• Previous experience acting as AMLCO, MLRO, Compliance Officer or equivalent regulated function holder.
• Experience within a Trust and Company Service Provider (TCSP), fiduciary services or similar regulated environment.
• Cantonese language skills would be advantageous.
