Job Captain

Job Captain is open to Architects-in-training (AIT) III that have begun to lead projects, teams, and clients while simultaneously demonstrating their commitment to licensure. Job Captains should be comfortable working independently, instructing AITs, and functioning not only in the project delivery role, but in the initial development of projects, opportunities, and client management. Architects, Project Managers, or Principals should be able to utilize a Job Captain as a ‘Right-hand-person’ and/or secondary point-of-contact on small and medium sized projects. This position is intended to be transitional while fulfilling license requirements. Job Captains are expected to complete their licensing requirements within two (2) years of starting this position.

Essential Functions
Exercise a high level of professionalism and con?dentiality when working with sta?, projects and proprietary information.
Display willingness to make decisions; exhibit sound and accurate judgment support and explain reasoning for decision; include appropriate people in decision making process; make timely decisions.
Participate in business development opportunities with existing clients, future clients, and opportunities including marketing pushes, conferences, and business to business meetings.
Write initial drafts of add services, fee worksheets, and proposals.
Assist in Client kickoff, communications, and kickoff as secondary (or primary) point of contact (dependent on project size)
Assist project managers and designers in developing project documents for bidding and construction.
Assist projects from beginning to end, during the Design Development, Construction Documents and Construction Administration phases.
Assist in initial code reviews including life safety, construction type, building size/height limitations, exiting, accessibility, plumbing counts, etc.
Maintain a clear understanding of the project lifecycle and what deliverables are required at each project phase.
Responsible for the development and coordination of the drawings and schedule commitments and project research.
Advise the project architect when the drawings and speci?cations are complete.
Experience and Capabilities of submitting applications and projects to AHJ
Provide support for any tasks required for the successful completion of the project.
Challenge actively (constructively) and voice relevant concerns; coach and teach others on the team to engage constructively in meetings and encourage vibrant discourse.
Coordinating Internal and External consultant teams to look for conflicts and discrepancies.
Other duties as assigned.

Proficient with Revit.
Working knowledge of AutoCAD as a delivery or support platform.
Working knowledge of Microsoft O?ce.
Specific ability to work within Microsoft Excel.
Working knowledge of Vantagepoint for project financial review.
Self-starter with the ability to work independently and as a team player.
Attention to Detail.
Architectural Degree, or informed knowledge of the field of architecture and design.
Bachelor’s degree in architecture, something similar for eligibility to begin ARE Testing.
5+ years related experience (non-Architectural Professional experience applicable on a case-by-case basis).

Preferred Qualifications
Working knowledge of sustainability, integrated design and LEED guidelines.
Working knowledge of buildingSMART and Integrated Project Delivery (IPD).
Proficiency in 3D Modeling software such as 3D Studio Max.
Proficiency in Photoshop, Illustrator, Sketchup, and InDesign graphic software.
