Senior Accounts Payable Specialist

The Opportunity

The Senior Accounts Payable Specialist Japan is responsible for leading and overseeing end-to-end accounts payable operations, ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant processing of invoices, expenses, and payments across the Japan business. This role plays a critical part in maintaining strong financial controls, supporting regulatory compliance, and delivering operational excellence through effective AP service delivery.

Partnering closely with local and regional Finance teams, employees, vendors, and outsourced service providers, the role ensures AP processes align with company policies, local statutory requirements, and global standards. The position also supports business transformation initiatives, system enhancements, audits, and continuous improvement efforts that strengthen operational efficiency and scalability.

Working within a global matrix organization, the Accounts Payable Manager serves as a trusted partner across Finance, Compliance, IT, and business functions, providing local expertise and leadership to support CSL's evolving business needs.
Your Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end Accounts Payable operations for Japan, ensuring timely, accurate, and compliant transaction processing.
• Manage vendor, employee, and intercompany payment activities in accordance with company policies and local regulations.
• Partner with stakeholders across Finance, Compliance, IT, and outsourced service providers to ensure effective AP service delivery.
• Support audits, reporting, and governance requirements while maintaining a strong control environment.
• Drive process improvements, system enhancements, and operational excellence initiatives.
• Lead and develop team capabilities while fostering a culture of continuous improvement.

Your Skills & Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related discipline
• 5+ years of Accounting or Accounts Payable experience, ideally within a multinational or shared services environment
• Solid understanding of Japanese accounting standards, tax requirements, and financial controls
• Experience with SAP, Concur, and Microsoft Office applications; OpenText and AppZen experience is a plus
• Strong stakeholder management, communication, and analytical skills
• Proven ability to identify process improvement opportunities and drive operational excellence
• Accounting qualifications such as Japan Commercial Bookkeeping Level 2 and/or CPA are preferred
• Native-level Japanese and business-level English skills
