Research Scientist I – Senior Research Scientist; DMPK in Buffalo, NY

The DMPK Research Scientist plans and executes laboratory studies supporting drug metabolism, pharmacokinetics, and bioanalysis. The scientist applies sound scientific judgment and practical laboratory expertise to generate accurate, timely, and defensible data; uses chromatographic and mass spectrometric methods to analyze study samples; interprets and communicates results; and contributes to the continued growth, quality, and efficiency of Curia's DMPK services. The role requires effective communication, careful documentation, safe laboratory practices, strong organization, and the ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative, client-focused team.

Responsibilities

• Execute in vitro DMPK and bioanalytical studies accurately and efficiently, including reagent and solution preparation, incubations, sample processing, instrumental analysis, calculations, data review, and reporting.
• Apply appropriate chromatographic, mass spectrometric, biochemical, and related analytical techniques, with particular emphasis on LC-MS/MS.
• Review experimental data for scientific validity, identify unexpected findings or technical issues, and communicate risks that could affect quality, timelines, or deliverables.
• Maintain complete, contemporaneous, accurate, and legible experimental records. Ensure data and reports are filed, traceable, and accessible in accordance with applicable SOPs and data-integrity expectations.
• Prepare complete and scientifically sound study documentation and reports appropriate to the assigned level of responsibility.
• Manage multiple assignments and priorities, use time and laboratory resources efficiently, and complete required documentation on schedule.
• Maintain laboratory areas, instruments, and equipment in a clean and orderly condition. Perform routine checks and minor troubleshooting within training, and promptly report malfunctions or service needs.
• Conduct work safely and in compliance with Curia policies, the Chemical Hygiene Plan, applicable SOPs, and federal, state, and local requirements, including requirements for chemical and biological waste disposal.
• Maintain current knowledge of DMPK, bioanalysis, relevant technologies, and scientific best practices through professional development and review of scientific literature.
• Collaborate effectively across the DMPK team and with internal partners; contribute to training, knowledge sharing, continuous improvement, and a respectful team environment.

Qualifications 

Research Scientist I

• Bachelor’s or Master's degree in Pharmaceutical Science, Analytical Science or related field

Research Scientist II

• Bachelor’s degree in Pharmaceutical Science, Analytical Science or related field, and two years of related experience, OR
• Master’s degree in Pharmaceutical Science, Analytical Science or related field, and one year of related experience

Research Scientist III

• Bachelor’s degree in Pharmaceutical Science, Analytical Science or related field, and five years of related experience, OR
• Master’s degree in Pharmaceutical Science, Analytical Science or related field, and two years of related experience

Senior Research Scientist

• PhD in Pharmaceutical Science, Analytical Science or related field

Other Qualifications

• Must pass a background check
• Must pass a drug screen
• May be required to pass Occupational Health Screening

Pay Range: 

Research Scientist I: $62,353.20/yr.

Research Scientist II: $65,000/yr.

Research Scientist III: $70,000/yr.

Senior Research Scientist: $79,000/yr.
