    Full-time | On-site | Brookings, OR | Shift Schedule: Weekends, Day shift, 3x12

    Compensation Range:

    • $22.46 - $33.97

    Compensation is based on experience, with a range reflecting entry-level candidates through those with 15+ years of experience. Eligible positions may also qualify for additional compensation with applicable shift, weekend, certification, or other differentials.

    Additional Compensation Differential Opportunities:

    • Licensed Positions: NOC Shift (7:00 PM–7:00 AM): +$3.50/hour. | Weekend Shift (12:00 AM Saturday–11:59 PM Sunday): +$3.00/hour.
    • Non-Licensed Positions: NOC Shift (7:00 PM–7:00 AM): +$3.00/hour. | Weekend Shift (12:00 AM Saturday–11:59 PM Sunday): +$2.00/hour.

    JOB SUMMARY

    Under the general supervision of the Diagnostic Imaging Manager and the immediate supervision of the Lead Imaging Technologist, the MRI Tech Assistant provides clinical and operational support for prescribed MRI scans and radiologic procedures performed for diagnostic purposes. The MRI Tech Assistant works closely with MRI Technologists and other Imaging staff to support patient preparation, safe and efficient workflow, and quality patient care, while maintaining a strong focus on customer satisfaction, quality, safety, and compliance with all state, federal, and local regulatory requirements. The MRI Tech Assistant supports care for patients of all ages and helps ensure that age- and culturally appropriate care is provided. Works effectively as a team with the Diagnostic Imaging Manager, Lead Imaging Technologists, Imaging staff, and personnel from other departments to collaboratively provide the best customer experience possible.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

    Provides clinical and operational support for prescribed diagnostic MRI examinations according to established operating practices, Radiologist protocols, and direction from the MRI Technologist or Lead Imaging Technologist; does not independently perform or interpret MRI examinations.

    Collaborate with MRI Technologists, Imaging staff, patients, and other customers to facilitate access to services, prepare patients, and support completion of MRI examinations in a safe and efficient manner.

    Assists with screening patients, staff, visitors, and other individuals entering the MRI environment for contraindications, implants, devices, foreign bodies, and other potential hazards; verifies required MRI safety documentation and follows established zone-access and safety protocols, escalating concerns to the MRI Technologist before entry.

    Provides professional and efficient customer service to all internal and external customers and chaperones sensitive examinations in all areas of the Diagnostic Imaging Department.

    Recognizes emergent patient situations and MRI-related safety events, promptly notifies the MRI Technologist or appropriate clinical personnel, and responds within the scope of training. Participates in hospital and department quality assurance programs and maintains compliance with applicable local, state, and federal regulations and accrediting organization standards, including MRI safety policies and practices.

    Monitors MRI supplies and equipment, maintains organized and appropriately stocked work areas, and reports equipment or supply concerns to the appropriate Imaging staff to support safe and efficient use of resources.

    Communicates effectively with Imaging staff, patients, families, and other customers to promote quality patient care, MRI safety, coordinated workflow, and a positive customer experience.

    Other duties as assigned to support the overall effectiveness of the department and organizational performance in accordance with Curry Health Network’s Mission, Vision and Shared Values.

    MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS

    Education & Experience

    • High school graduate or equivalent.
    • One year of experience in a medical office or hospital environment preferred.
    • Experience with computerized appointment scheduling and patient management software preferred.
    • Current AHA BLS required
    • Must complete Nanosonics Trophon Operator Certification prior to independently operating the Trophon system and maintain annual recertification thereafter.

    Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

    • Ability to effectively navigate computer systems including but not limited to MS Office applications, EHR, and PACS.
    • Demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills.
    • Possess knowledge of basic medical terminology.
    • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills. Strong organizational and prioritization ability.
    • Multitasking and time management is critical to performance of the role.
    • Understands medical terminology and hospital department workflows.

    • Hearing requirements: ability to hear alarms on equipment, patient calls, and instructions.
