Data Systems Analysts, Inc. (DSA) is seeking a TS/SCI-cleared Software Test Engineer to ensure the quality, reliability, and security of modern cloud native applications supporting Department of Defense mission requirements. The engineer will develop and execute comprehensive test strategies across web applications, APIs, cloud services, and infrastructure components operating within AWS GovCloud environments.
This position requires a skilled testing professional who can combine manual testing expertise with automated test development using Cypress and modern QA practices. The selected candidate will collaborate closely with software developers, DevSecOps engineers, cybersecurity teams, product owners, and mission stakeholders to validate functionality, performance, and security throughout the software development lifecycle.
This is a hybrid position at the National Ground Intelligence Center (NGIC) in Charlottesville, VA, and candidates must reside within a commutable two-hour drive of the worksite.
Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and execute test plans, test cases, test procedures, and automated test suites for cloud native applications and services.
- Perform both manual and automated testing of web applications developed using React, TypeScript, and Python.
- Develop, maintain, and enhance automated UI and end to end test frameworks using Cypress.
- Validate application functionality, usability, accessibility, and cross browser compatibility.
- Perform API testing and integration validation for RESTful services using tools such as Postman, Cypress, or equivalent frameworks.
- Collaborate with developers to establish quality standards and acceptance criteria during Agile development cycles.
- Integrate automated testing into GitLab CI/CD pipelines to support continuous testing and rapid delivery.
- Validate cloud native solutions deployed within AWS GovCloud environments.
- Execute regression, smoke, functional, integration, system, and user acceptance testing activities.
- Participate in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, backlog refinement, daily standups, sprint reviews, and retrospectives.
- Document test strategies, test results, quality metrics, and operational support procedures.
- Promote quality engineering best practices, shift left testing, and test automation adoption across development teams.
Required Education, Certifications and Security Clearance
- BS in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field
- Experience may be substituted for degree.
- TS/SCI Clearance
- DoD 8140 (8570) IAT Level II Certification
Requirements Experience/Qualifications:
- Minimum 5 years of experience testing and validating software applications within DoD or federal environments.
- Experience developing and executing manual and automated test strategies for enterprise software systems.
- Hands on experience with Cypress test automation for web applications.
- Experience testing applications built using React, TypeScript, JavaScript, and Python technologies.
- Experience validating REST APIs, JSON data structures, and service integrations.
- Strong understanding of software testing methodologies, defect lifecycle management, and quality assurance processes.
- Working knowledge of AWS GovCloud services including EC2, ECS/EKS, Lambda, S3, and IAM.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate technical findings to diverse stakeholders.
Preferred Experience/Qualifications:
- Experience leading software quality assurance initiatives in DevSecOps environments.
- Experience building scalable automation frameworks using Cypress and other modern testing tools.
- Experience with GitLab CI/CD and integrating automated test suites into deployment pipelines.
- Experience with test reporting, quality metrics, and software quality dashboards.
- ISTQB Foundation Level, Advanced Test Analyst, or similar testing certifications preferred.

The posted salary range is a good-faith estimate. Actual compensation will be based on the selected candidate’s qualifications, experience, skills, and other job-related factors.
DSA - Salary Pay Range
$130,000—$160,000 USD
