Professional Indemnity Team at Keoghs
Our Professional Indemnity team in Birmingham is looking to recruit a 5+ years pqe at Senior Associate level. Birmingham is the newest addition to our wider Professional Indemnity team.
The team advises on claims involving a range of processionals, including solicitors, accountants, surveyors, property professionals and construction professionals. It also handles professional indemnity policy coverage advice and disputes. The work is broad and varied, covering matters at the pre-action stage, through ADR, litigation and arbitration. The role therefore requires strong technical expertise and clear communication skills.
This is a unique opportunity to join our growing Professional Indemnity team in Birmingham at an exciting stage of its development. As an early member of the team, you will have the chance not only to work on high-quality and complex matters, but also to play a key role in shaping the team's culture, direction and future success.
The successful lawyer will work closely with the existing members of the Professional Indemnity team (in Birmingham and also in Liverpool where opportunities arise) and will be accountable for the following:
Handling the day to day running of claims, including:
- Reviewing documents and preparing reports
- Liaising with Insureds and Insurers
- Dealing with disclosure
- Reviewing evidence
- Conducting investigations
- Instructing Counsel/Experts
- Research
- Drafting generally
- Attending conferences and trials/ disciplinary hearings with Counsel
- Dealing with routine correspondence
- Court appointments
- Ensuring compliance with the SRA Code of Conduct and relevant Service Standards
- Assisting with the development and supervision of junior team members
- Taking part in seminars/training for Insurer clients
- Working with the wider team on business development initiatives
Essential:
- Previous defendant insurance, professional indemnity experience
- The ability to manage and develop others
