    Job description

    Subsidence Claims Specialist

Where technical expertise meets real‑world impact
When a property starts to move, crack or sink, it can turn someone’s world upside down. As a Subsidence Claims Specialist, you become the calm in that storm—the expert who brings clarity, reassurance and direction when customers need it most.
This role sits at the centre of our technical claims operation. You’ll manage your own portfolio of domestic and commercial subsidence claims, using your engineering insight, analytical mindset, and problem‑solving instincts to guide each case from first report to resolution. Every claim is a puzzle, and you’re the one who pieces it together.
Working from home, you’ll blend technical authority with empathy and communication. You’ll translate complex structural issues into clear, confident explanations that help policyholders feel informed and supported. You’ll collaborate with engineers, surveyors, loss adjusters and contractors—always steering the process toward fair, timely and high‑quality outcomes.
    What makes this role exciting
You’re the trusted expert customers rely on during a stressful and uncertain time
Investigate real structural issues and apply your judgement to shape the right solution
You own your cases end‑to‑end, giving you autonomy and variety every day
You work with a wide network of specialists, learning from different disciplines
Make a tangible difference—protecting homes, livelihoods and peace of mind
    What you’ll be doing
Taking full responsibility for a portfolio of subsidence claims, from first notification to settlement
Diagnosing the cause of damage using engineering knowledge and evidence‑based assessment
Coordinating investigations, monitoring, repairs and mitigation strategies
Communicating clearly and compassionately with customers, ensuring they feel supported throughout
Making fair, balanced decisions that align with policy cover and technical best practice
Driving progress proactively to deliver timely, high‑quality outcomes
A recognised professional building qualification (e.g., MICE, MRICS, MCIOB, MIStructE, MCABE) or active progression toward one. Relevant experience will also be considered.
Strong technical knowledge of structural defects and subsidence‑related issues.
The ability to diagnose building damage remotely using supplied evidence.
Experience within the insurance industry and a solid understanding of liability considerations.
Confident negotiation and influencing skills, with the ability to gain agreement from multiple stakeholders.
A problem‑solving mindset, able to evaluate complex information and make sound decisions.
    Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Strong organisational and time‑management abilities, with the capacity to prioritise effectively.
High attention to detail and a commitment to delivering quality outcomes.
A flexible, self‑motivated approach and the ability to work independently.
