Driver must be physically and mentally alert. Obey all traffic laws. Observe all mandatory bus safety regulations and transport only authorized students.
Qualifications:
- Must possess Texas Commercial Driver's License
- Bus Driver's Physical Examination
- Must be 21 years of age or older
Responsibilities:
- Must be able to maintain discipline when students are on the bus and report undisciplined students to the proper administrator
- Adhere to designated route description and stops assigned
- Keep assigned bus swept and cleaned
- Perform pre-trip bus inspection before each departure from Transportation Department
- Fuel bus daily and record the fuel used
- Notify proper administrator in case of mechanical failure
- Discharge students only at authorized stops
- Enforce all rules and regulations from student conduct policy posted
- Perform other duties assigned by Director of Transportation
All potential candidates must adhere to and meet the requirements set forth in Texas Education Code (TEC), Chapter 22, Subchapter C prior to eomployment regarding being fingerprinted.
- Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:
• Tools/Equipment Used: Operate school bus; two-way radio; global positioning system (GPS); safety equipment including but not limited to flares, reflective signs, and fire extinguisher
• Posture: Prolonged driving; moderate walking; frequent climbing stairs, grasping/squeezing, wrist and shoulder flexion/extension, and reaching
• Lifting: Limited light lifting and carrying (less than 15 pounds) on a daily basis
• Environment: Frequent exposure to extreme hot and cold temperatures, noise, and vehicle fumes; work around moving vehicles; regularly work irregular hours, and occasionally work prolonged hours
• Mental Demands: Maintain emotional control under stress
