Head of Viticulture

About the role                                                                 

We are seeking a Head of Viticulture, based in Blenheim, with proven experience to lead our New Zealand viticultural teams. Accountable for the implementation of our world class scientifically led viticultural practices that optimise yield and quality of our cool climate vineyards, spanning over 3,200 hectares in the premier regions of Marlborough and Hawke’s Bay.

Reporting directly to the Group Operations Manager - Viticulture and Winemaking, the successful applicant will: 

• Lead engagement and development of our Vineyard Managers and Viticulturalists to foster a culture of innovation and technical excellence of our world class vineyards.
• Lead and ensure all vineyard operations are planned to optimise yield and quality while also driving continuous improvement, focused on operational excellence and efficiency.
• Review annual Viticulture Division plant and equipment requirements and the Viticulture Division operating budgets.
• Develop an industry-leading, high-performance workplace culture and embed a strong health and safety culture across the teams.

What you will bring

• You are tertiary qualified in viticulture.
• Experience in managing large-scale viticulture operations, with commercial acumen. 
• Proven experience working in high-performance environments.
• A collaborative, growth-focused leadership style with excellent people management skills. 
• Current working knowledge and experience of relevant NZ WHS legislation and requirements. 
• You are curious and continuously learn and grow your capabilities.
