Role Summary:
We are seeking an Engineering Leader to lead a cross-functional team of Technical Product Engineers, Software Engineers, Quality Engineers, Support Analysts, and Innovation Engineers responsible for delivering and supporting technology solutions across the Alliances portfolio. This role serves as a key technology delivery leader, partnering closely with Product Managers, Portfolio Architects, Innovation Engineers, internal domain teams, and external airline and technology partners to deliver business value and exceptional customer experiences.
The Engineering Leader is responsible for building and developing a high-performing engineering organization, driving execution of the technology roadmap, managing dependencies and delivery risks, coordinating across technology domains and partner organizations, and ensuring successful implementation of Alliance initiatives. This role requires strong leadership, technical acumen, stakeholder management, and the ability to influence outcomes across teams without direct authority. ,
Role Responsibilities:
People Leadership & Talent Development
- Lead, coach, and develop a team of Technical Product Engineers, Software Engineers, Quality Engineers, Support Analysts, and Innovation Engineers.
- Assess team capabilities, identify skill gaps, and establish training, mentoring, and development plans aligned with current and future portfolio needs.
- Foster a culture of accountability, continuous learning, innovation, inclusion, and engineering excellence.
- Support workforce planning, talent acquisition, onboarding, succession planning, performance management, and employee engagement activities.
- Build technical and domain expertise across the team, including integration, cloud, AI, airline, and partner ecosystem capabilities.
Delivery Leadership & Execution
- Partner with Product Managers, Portfolio Architects, Innovation Engineers, and business stakeholders to translate business objectives into executable delivery plans.
- Drive backlog prioritization, release planning, sequencing, and execution while balancing business value, technical complexity, dependencies, and resource capacity.
- Ensure work is clearly defined, prioritized, and delivered using Agile and DevOps methodologies with measurable outcomes and predictable delivery.
- Identify, communicate, and mitigate risks, issues, and delivery roadblocks impacting portfolio commitments.
- Regularly communicate progress, milestones, implementation status, risks, and dependency impacts to leadership and stakeholders.
Cross-Domain Collaboration & Dependency Management
- Coordinate delivery activities across multiple Delta technology domains to manage technical dependencies, sequencing requirements, integration touchpoints, and implementation risks.
- Partner with engineering teams supporting customer, loyalty, commercial, operational, and enterprise capabilities to ensure successful end-to-end solution delivery.
- Facilitate resolution of cross-functional challenges impacting project execution, integrations, or business outcomes.
- Work closely with Portfolio Architects to ensure solutions align with enterprise architecture standards, integration patterns, and technology roadmaps.
Alliance & Partner Collaboration
- Serve as a primary technology liaison between Delta engineering teams and Joint Venture, SkyTeam, Codeshare, and strategic partner technology organizations.
- Ensure partner organizations have a clear understanding of business requirements, technical expectations, testing strategies, implementation plans, and delivery schedules.
- Support initiatives involving Delta APIs, partner-owned APIs, enterprise integrations, and shared business capabilities.
- Coordinate delivery activities across internal and external development teams to ensure alignment and successful execution of joint initiatives.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to facilitate secure connectivity, testing, certification, production readiness, and deployment activities associated with partner integrations.
Technical Leadership & Innovation
- Develop and maintain a strong understanding of Delta applications, APIs, system interactions, integration patterns, data flows, and business processes supporting the Alliances portfolio.
- Guide teams in implementing scalable, secure, reliable, and maintainable solutions aligned with enterprise architecture and engineering standards.
- Collaborate with Architects and engineering teams to evaluate solution options, identify technical risks, and support successful implementation strategies.
- Promote adoption of automation, AI-assisted development, quality engineering, DevOps practices, and modern software delivery capabilities.
- Encourage innovation and continuous improvement to enhance customer experience, operational efficiency, and partner collaboration
- AI Architecture: Define AI/ML architectural patterns and guardrails, including evaluation and adoption of GenAI platforms, agentic architectures, and intelligent automation capabilities.
- AI-Assisted Development: Drive adoption of AI-assisted development practices and tooling across engineering teams.
