We are looking for an experienced software engineer to join our MDTS team as a Lead Development Engineer. In this role you'll be part of a team that will support system monitoring, on-call support for batch jobs, perform tirage on anomalies identified for system or functional errors and optimize system performance for MIPS reduction and development/enhancement in TPF for improvements.
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for participating in development, maintenance, enhancement for application issues and system optimization.
- Understand business requirements to provide the technical design of computer software
- Possess high level of programming expertise in TPF C, Basic Assembler Language for the zTPF environment to develop and maintain computer software
- Develop appropriate software and documentation according to Delta standards
- Support and troubleshoot computer systems as required, optimizing performance, resolving problems, and providing timely follow up on all problems
- Follow Delta standards and methodologies in the development and implementation of computer software
- Works/Consults across multiple projects; functions as an informal leader
- Responsible for providing hands-on expert level assistance to junior developers for technical issues.
- Practices safety-conscious behaviors in all operational processes and procedures
- Respects differing opinions and collaboration on creating solutions for Delta Airlines
- Collaborate with system or application owners to create secure, reliable, scalable software solutions
- Writes custom code or scripts to automate infrastructure, monitoring services, test cases, to do “destructive testing” to ensure adequate resiliency in production
- Collaborate cross-functionally with business and other IT teams across Delta
- Identifies unsecured code areas and implements fixes as they are discovered with or without tooling
- Identifies, implements, and shares technical solutions that can be used across the portfolio
- Identifies product enhancements to create a better experience for the end users
- Research and/or investigate technical issues impacting the organization and recommend solutions
- Provide application support for software running in production
- Proactively reviews the Performance and Capacity of all aspects of production: code, infrastructure, data, and message processing
- Triages high priority issues and outages as they arise
- Participates in learning activities around agile software development and development core practices, and mentors other team members in these best practices
