Role Summary:
The Alliances portfolio plays a critical role in extending Delta's network and enabling customer, operational, loyalty, and commercial capabilities across alliance, joint venture, codeshare, and strategic partner relationships.
The Portfolio Architect owns the technical direction and architectural decisions for the Alliances portfolio. This role partners closely with business leaders, product teams, engineering organizations, and external airline and technology partners to design secure, scalable, cloud-native solutions that enable seamless integration and collaboration across organizational boundaries. The architect is responsible for ensuring technology investments align with business strategy, enterprise standards, and partner ecosystem requirements.
Role Responsibilities:
- Architectural Design: Develop and maintain architectural blueprints for solutions, ensuring alignment with business goals, enterprise standards, and partner ecosystem strategies.
- Alliance Ecosystem Architecture: Define architecture patterns and roadmaps that enable customer, operational, loyalty, and commercial capabilities across Delta and alliance partner ecosystems.
- Partner Integration Strategy: Lead the design of integrations utilizing APIs, event-driven architectures, messaging platforms, and data-sharing solutions to support alliance, joint venture, codeshare, and third-party partnerships.
- Technical Solution Leadership: Analyze internal and external application architectures, APIs, interface specifications, data models, schemas, and integration patterns to develop end-to-end solutions that meet business and technical objectives.
- API & Partner Onboarding: Lead onboarding of external consumers to Delta APIs and enable Delta applications to consume partner-owned APIs and services while ensuring secure and scalable integration patterns.
- Cloud Integration: Leverage cloud-native platforms and modern engineering practices to design and implement resilient, scalable, and secure solutions.
- Design and deploy scalable, secure, and highly available multi-tier applications using core services like EC2, S3, RDS, and VPC.
- Implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using AWS CloudFormation to automate environment provisioning and continuous integration pipelines.
- Optimize cloud spend and performance by aligning architectures with the AWS Well-Architected Framework and managing resource sizing
- Collaboration: Serve as the primary technical liaison between Delta teams and external partner technology organizations, facilitating architecture reviews, technical workshops, and solution alignment activities.
- Engineering Excellence: Establish architectural standards, design patterns, and engineering guardrails that promote quality, scalability, maintainability, and reusability.
- Security & Connectivity: Define and govern secure partner connectivity solutions, including authentication, authorization, certificate management, firewall requirements, network connectivity, IP whitelisting, and secure data exchange.
- AI Architecture: Define AI/ML architectural patterns and guardrails, including evaluation and adoption of GenAI platforms, agentic architectures, and intelligent automation capabilities.
- AI-Assisted Development: Drive adoption of AI-assisted development practices and tooling across engineering teams.
- Documentation: Create and maintain architecture artifacts, interface specifications, integration designs, technical standards, and operational guidance.
- Innovation: Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend solutions that improve business outcomes, customer experience, operational efficiency, and partner collaboration.
