    Job Description:

    Job Title: Activity Therapy Leader

    Workplace: Central State Hospital, Milledgeville, GA

    Shift: 8am-5pm

    Job Summary:

    Under broad supervision, provides therapeutic programming that helps individuals develop and practice essential life-management skills needed for successful functioning in the home, community, workplace, and personal relationships.

    Employment Requirements

    ·         Plans, direct or coordinates therapeutic recreation programs.

    ·         Able to assist with activities such as sports, gardening, dramatics, music, social activities, and arts and crafts.

    ·         Conducts assessment of an individual’s condition and recommends appropriate recreational activity.

    ·         May transport and/or accompanies clients to treatment units, using a wheelchair or stretcher.

    The following are a list of evaluations and vaccinations that may be required for employees, including those not involved with direct care:

    ·         Drug Screening

    ·         TB Evaluation

    ·         Annual Influenza*

    *Limited exemptions may be made for documented medical contraindications or religious beliefs that object to vaccinations.

    FOR THIS TYPE OF EMPLOYMENT, STATE LAW REQUIRES A NATIONAL AND STATE BACKGROUND CHECK AS A CONDITION OF EMPLOYMENT.  

    Minimum Qualifications:

    Bachelor's degree in a therapeutic recreation or related therapeutic discipline from an accredited college or university and three (3) years of job-related experience, which includes one (1) year in a lead worker, team leader, or supervisory role or one (1) year of experience at the lower level Activity Therapist 3 (HCP062) or position equivalent.--Note: Some positions may require registration in the area of assignment.
