The Advisor, Operations Data & Analytics is a senior individual contributor and strategic partner to Upstream Operations, turning operational and production data into decisions that improve field performance and efficiency. This role owns the analytics stack used daily by Drilling, Completions, Production, and Production Accounting — from Snowflake data models through Spotfire and/or Power BI dashboards to Streamlit applications deployed in the field. The ideal candidate pairs deep upstream oil & gas fluency with strong data engineering and visualization skills.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Include but are not limited to:
- Own the end-to-end reporting stack for Upstream Operations, from source-system ingestion through curated Snowflake models to the final dashboard.
- Develop and optimize Snowflake data models, SQL, and automated Python workflows, replacing manual and spreadsheet-based reporting.
- Build and administer advanced Spotfire and/or Power BI content, including reusable datasets and templates that enable self-service.
- Develop and deploy Streamlit applications that put analytics and operational tools directly in the hands of field and office users.
- Build and maintain reporting against ProCount, WellView, SiteView, Actenum, Ignition, XSPOC, and SCADA/historian platforms.
- Partner with Operations, Engineering, and Operations Technology to scope business needs, prioritize requests, and steward consistent KPI and data definitions.
- Define development and documentation standards, and present findings and recommendations to Operations leadership.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Data Analytics, or a related field — or equivalent professional experience.
- Seven (7+) or more years in data reporting or analytics, including significant experience supporting upstream oil & gas operations.
- Expert-level SQL, including window functions, CTEs, and query performance tuning against large datasets.
- Hands-on experience building data models in a cloud data warehouse — Snowflake strongly preferred.
- Expert-level proficiency in Spotfire and/or Power BI, building dashboards for field and executive audiences.
- Strong Python for analysis and automation, and demonstrated ability to deploy analytical web applications — Streamlit preferred.
- Deep familiarity with upstream workflows and data from ProCount, WellView, SiteView, and SCADA sources.
- Ability to independently scope, prioritize, and deliver projects with limited direction.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Streamlit in Snowflake, Snowpark, and Snowflake tasks, streams, or dynamic tables.
- Hands-on experience with upstream operational applications and their underlying data structures.
- Effective use of AI coding assistants to accelerate SQL, Python, and dashboard development, including judgment about when generated code requires review and validation.
