Our Lady of Hungary School seeks a loving, energetic Diverse Learners Teacher Aid.
teacher aid to lead a Diverse Learners Program(special Ed) in classroom for the 2026-27 school year. Established in 1927, Our Lady of Hungary School has consistently maintained high academic standards, grounded in the teachings of the Catholic faith.
The school was founded by the Daughters of Divine Charity, a religious order of Sisters, who were invited to staff Our Lady of Hungary School upon its founding. They arrived nearly 100 years ago amid the ringing of the church bells and much jubilation by the parishioners and soon to be students. Today there are ten lay teachers and a lay principal staffing the school continuing the same mission to provide an authentic Catholic education in a caring environment.
Job Responsibilities Include
Student Support
- Provide individual and small-group academic support based on student needs.
- Assist students in reading, mathematics, writing, organization, and other academic areas.
- Provide in-class support and reinforce instruction provided by classroom teachers.
- Support students in developing positive learning behaviors, independence, and appropriate classroom routines.
- Implement teacher- and administrator-directed interventions and supports.
- Monitor student progress and communicate observations to teachers and administration.
- Provide appropriate support for multilingual learners and students who need additional academic assistance.
Special Education & District Coordination
- Assist the school in maintaining accurate student support documentation.
- Help organize records, intervention data, service plans, and other documentation requested by the school or district.
- Communicate with district personnel regarding meetings, documentation, services, and student support needs under the direction of the principal.
- Assist in scheduling and coordinating meetings with district representatives, teachers, and parents/guardians.
- Support the preparation of information and documentation for student support meetings.
- Maintain confidentiality regarding student information and records.
Family Communication
- Assist the principal and teachers in facilitating meetings with parents/guardians regarding student academic and support needs.
- Help communicate school and district processes to families in a respectful and supportive manner.
- When appropriate and directed by administration, assist with communication with Spanish-speaking families.
- Build positive relationships with students and families while maintaining professional boundaries and confidentiality.
Qualifications
- High school diploma required; associate or bachelor's degree in education, special education, psychology, social work, or a related field preferred.
- Experience working with children in an educational or school setting preferred.
- Experience supporting students with disabilities, academic challenges, or behavioral needs preferred.
- Ability to work effectively with students across PK–8.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive student information professionally.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with teachers, administrators, families, and district personnel.
- Bilingual English/Spanish skills preferred.
- Commitment to the mission and values of Catholic education.
Work Schedule
Monday–Friday: 7:30 a.m.–3:30 p.m.
The position will work throughout the school day and may be assigned to different classrooms and grade levels according to student needs and school priorities.
