Transit Compliance Officer

The Department for Infrastructure and Transport plays a vital role connecting people and places in South Australia by managing roads, marine and public transport networks across the State, and builds and maintains the State-owned infrastructure that enables the delivery of essential and important government services to our community.
Public Transport South Australia (PTSA) is expanding its customer-facing presence across the Adelaide metropolitan network predominately interchanges and bus network and is seeking motivated and customer-focused individuals to join the team as Transit Compliance Officers. These newly established roles have been created to support a safe, welcoming and positive experience for customers travelling on Adelaide's Metropolitan network.
As a visible frontline representative of PTSA, you will engage with customers, provide travel assistance and information, respond to incidents, and work closely with bus operators and key stakeholders to support safe, reliable public transport services and ensure compliance with relevant policies, procedures, and operational requirements. You will play an important role in building customer confidence and enhancing the overall travel experience across the network.
We're looking for people who enjoy working with the community and can communicate effectively with a diverse range of customers and stakeholders. You will bring strong customer service skills, sound judgement, resilience, and the ability to remain calm and professional in challenging situations. Experience in customer service, community engagement, transport operations, security or other public-facing roles will be highly regarded.
Based at Dry Creek, this role involves regular travel throughout the Adelaide Metro network and participation in a rotating roster that includes early mornings, evenings, weekends and public holidays. This is a field-based role that involves regular movement throughout the public transport network, including prolonged periods of standing and walking, conducting patrols, working across multiple locations, and performing duties in a range of weather conditions. The incumbent must be able to safely perform the inherent requirements of the role, including spending substantial periods of time on their feet, walking between locations, boarding and alighting buses, maintaining balance and mobility in a moving vehicle environment, and responding to operational situations in a timely manner. The role requires all successful applicants to meet pre-employment assessments, along with an interview, satisfactory criminal history check, pre-employment medical examination and reference checks.

Special Conditions

• A National Police Check (NPC) is required prior to employment in the Department for Infrastructure and Transport which must be renewed every three years.
• A Working with Children Check (WWCC) is required prior to employment in the Department for Infrastructure and Transport which must be continuously maintained during throughout employment.
• Must be suitable to be appointed as a Prescribed Officer and Authorised Person in accordance with the Passenger Transport Act 1994 and Passenger Transport Regulations 2024.
• A current South Australian Driver’s Licence is essential and must be maintained throughout employment.

Remuneration
OPS3 - $74,095 to $78,694 per annum + superannuation
