Information Technology Helpdesk Apprentice

PRIMARY OVERVIEW: 

This is an entry-level apprenticeship role designed for an individual with a strong interest in marketing and business development who is looking to start a career in this field. The Apprentice will support the day-to-day execution of marketing campaigns, assist with business development activities, and learn how to contribute to the growth of the organization.

No prior professional experience is required — full training and support will be provided.

WHAT YOU WILL LEARN:

This role is designed for someone with no prior work experience. You are not expected to know everything — your attitude, curiosity, and willingness to learn are far more important than experience. You will be supported and trained to build confidence and skills over time.

• Fundamentals of marketing and business development
• Digital marketing basics (social media, email, content creation)
• Market research and analysis
• CRM and database management
• Professional communication and customer service skills
• Event planning and execution

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Daily Marketing Support

• Assist with the creation and scheduling of social media posts and email campaigns
• Support the preparation of marketing materials (brochures, presentations, digital content)
• Respond to basic inquiries from potential clients or partners
• Conduct market research and competitor analysis
• Escalate more complex issues to senior marketing or business development staff

Campaign & Project Support

• Track and report on campaign performance metrics
• Help organize and attend promotional events or webinars
• Support the development of case studies and client testimonials

Learning & Development

• Take part in structured apprenticeship training
• Develop knowledge in digital marketing, branding, and business development strategies
• Work towards relevant marketing or business qualifications

Participation in hospital committees:

The employee, as part of his/her job description shall take part in the activities of any committee that he/she is assigned by his/her supervisor, and is expected to attend all scheduled meetings.  The employee further agrees to be an active participant in assigned activities related to DH attaining and maintaining Joint Commission International (JCI) Accreditation.

QUALIFICATIONS / KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS:
Essential:

• High School diploma preferred or equivalent.
• Basic computer literacy (e.g., email, Microsoft Office, Social Media Platforms)
• Genuine interest in marketing and business development
• Willingness to learn and take direction
• Good communication and interpersonal skills

• Creative and proactive mindset

• Ability to work in a confidential and professional environment
• Excellent telephone manner and customer service skills

Desirable / Not required

• Basic knowledge of marketing or business concepts
• Relevant school subjects or coursework
• Interest in the industry or sector of the organization

ACCOUNTABILITY:

• Commitment to completing apprenticeship training
• Understand and follow oral and written instructions
• Flexibility to assist during busy periods or events
• Establish and maintain good working relationships with other members of the team

TRAVEL:

Travel may be required between the hospital and clinics as well as to awareness events.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT:

• Office-based. Although most work is performed inside, occasional outside activities are required.
• Collaborative team with direct interaction with marketing, sales and operations staff
• Opportunities to participate in external events or meetings
• The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet
• Requires professional dress and appearance, well-groomed with minimal perfume
