Location: MSF Field Project / Humanitarian Setting
    Contract: Field Assignment

    About the Opportunity

Are you an oncology doctor looking for more than a conventional clinical role?

Join Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) and bring your expertise to patients who may have limited or no access to quality cancer care. In this field-based role, you will work alongside dedicated international and local teams to deliver compassionate, evidence-based oncology services in challenging humanitarian and resource-limited environments.

This is an opportunity to use your clinical expertise, strengthen local capacity, and make a meaningful difference in the lives of patients and their families.

    Your Role

As an Oncology Doctor, you will provide high-quality, patient-centred cancer care while adapting your clinical practice to the realities of a humanitarian setting.

    You will:

    • Assess, diagnose, and manage patients with suspected and confirmed malignancies.
    • Develop and oversee appropriate cancer treatment plans, including chemotherapy, supportive care, and palliative care.
    • Manage oncology emergencies, treatment complications, and complex clinical presentations.
    • Work closely with multidisciplinary teams, including doctors, nurses, pharmacists, laboratory staff, and other healthcare professionals.
    • Help develop and strengthen practical cancer-care pathways suited to the available resources.
    • Ensure appropriate referral and continuity of care for patients requiring investigations or treatment unavailable within the project.
    • Mentor, supervise, and train local healthcare professionals, sharing your knowledge and clinical expertise.
    • Contribute to clinical guidelines, protocols, standard operating procedures, audits, and quality-improvement initiatives.
    • Provide compassionate counselling and education to patients and families regarding diagnosis, treatment, prognosis, and palliative care.
    • Identify gaps in cancer services and work with MSF teams to improve access, quality, and continuity of care.
    • Maintain accurate, confidential, and high-quality clinical documentation.
    • Contribute to strengthening local healthcare systems and building sustainable oncology capacity.

    What We Are Looking For

We are looking for an experienced oncology professional who combines strong clinical skills with adaptability, compassion, leadership, and a commitment to humanitarian medicine.

    You should have:

    • Relevant specialist training and experience in oncology.
    • Strong clinical judgement and the ability to work independently when required.
    • Experience managing complex oncology patients and treatment-related complications.
    • The ability to adapt clinical practice in settings where resources, investigations, and treatment options may be limited.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Experience working within multidisciplinary teams.
    • A genuine interest in teaching, mentoring, and developing local healthcare capacity.
    • A patient-centred approach and commitment to medical ethics and professional standards.
    • Resilience, flexibility, cultural sensitivity, and the ability to work effectively in challenging environments.
    • A strong commitment to the humanitarian principles and values of MSF.

    Why Join MSF?

This is more than an oncology position. It is an opportunity to take your expertise beyond the conventional hospital setting and directly contribute to improving access to cancer care for underserved communities.

You will have the opportunity to:

Make an impact. Provide care to patients who may otherwise have limited access to oncology services.

Lead and develop. Share your expertise through mentoring, training, and capacity building.

Grow professionally. Gain experience working across cultures and within complex humanitarian healthcare environments.

Be part of a team. Work alongside committed healthcare professionals united by a common humanitarian mission.

If You Are Ready to Make a Difference

If you are an oncology doctor who wants to combine clinical excellence with humanitarian impact, MSF offers an opportunity to put your expertise where it can make a profound difference.

Bring your knowledge. Bring your compassion. Bring your courage.

Join MSF and help make quality cancer care accessible to those who need it most.

Candidates should meet MSF's relevant professional, registration, experience, language, and field-assignment requirements. Specific requirements may vary according to the project and country of assignment.
