We are on a journey of continuous growth – now looking for our next star – a passionate Manufacturing Quality Foundations Systems Lead. This position reports to Interim Director, Quality Assurance and will work in Vancouver, BC.

Vancouver:

Dometic Marine’s headquarters are in Vancouver, British Columbia in Canada. The facility develops and manufactures hydraulic, electronic, and combustion-based products.

As Manufacturing Quality Foundations Systems Lead of the Vancouver team, you will build quality assurance into the company's production process through integration of YMC Monozukuri Principle Activities and to support internal and external audit activities. This role sits at the intersection of Quality, Manufacturing, and Customer Quality, ensuring that Yamaha (YMC) quality manufacturing principles are trained, applied, and sustained across the Vancouver facility and broader Marine Segment.

Reporting to the Interim Director of Quality Assurance, the Quality Foundations Systems Lead serves as the site's certified Yamaha (YMUS) Principle Activities trainer, develops and delivers Monozukuri training materials, and provides QA support on legacy hydraulic product defects to help reduce cost-of-quality KPIs. The role is also the primary quality customer interface for key accounts and acts as the sole General Dynamics Land Systems Inspector Delegate. This is a highly cross-functional role requiring comprehensive knowledge of production, quality systems, and customer requirements.

General Responsibilities

• YMC Monozukuri Principle Activities & Training

  • Serve as a Yamaha (YMUS) certified Principle Activities trainer, training all Dometic staff in the YMC quality manufacturing system.
  • Develop Monozukuri Principle Activities training materials for Vancouver internal, Vancouver external, and Marine Segment audiences.
  • Lead weekly DPS Make Rule Book and Principle Activities training sessions.
  • Conduct monthly and semiannual Monozukuri Level Evaluations, including the semiannual Yamaha audit.
  • Deliver quality onboarding for new hires and co-op students on a semiannual basis.

• Product Quality & Customer Support

  • Provide QA support for external and internal defects on legacy hydraulic products (helm, pivot, hose, kitting) to help decrease the cost of quality KPI, including external warranty data.
  • Respond daily to warranty findings and implement corrective fixes to production.
  • Respond weekly to customer quality concerns.
  • Act as the quality customer interface for Mercury, YMC/YMUS, Volvo, and Honda.

• Audit, Inspection & Compliance

  • Perform GP12 inspections as required.
  • Support annual ISO 9001 audit activities.
  • Perform daily operations quality control (firefighting) to maintain production flow.

Skills & Requirements

The ideal candidate for this role will bring demonstrated success in manufacturing environment. Additionally, they will have acquired the following qualifications and experiences:

• Bachelor's degree or diploma in a related engineering, quality, or manufacturing discipline, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Yamaha (YMUS) Principle Activities certification, or willingness and ability to obtain certification.
• Experience in quality assurance, manufacturing quality systems, or a related engineering discipline within a manufacturing environment.
• Familiarity with Lean/Monozukuri principles, ISO 9001, and structured audit processes.
• Experience supporting warranty analysis, root cause investigation, and corrective action on legacy or in-production hardware.
• Experience acting as a quality liaison with external customers or regulatory/inspection bodies.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint for reporting, documentation, and training material development.

• Manufacturing & Product Quality

  • Deep, hands-on understanding of manufacturing quality within a production environment, including how quality is built into the process rather than inspected in after the fact. This includes working knowledge of Yamaha (YMC) Monozukuri principles, Lean manufacturing fundamentals, and ISO 9001 quality systems, along with the ability to identify process-level defect sources, drive containment, and implement corrective actions on the shop floor. Comfortable working directly with Operations to resolve day-to-day quality issues (firefighting) while also building the longer-term training and process discipline that prevents recurrence.

• Customer Quality

  • Skilled at representing quality to external customers and acting as a trusted technical point of contact for accounts such as Mercury, YMC/YMUS, Volvo, and Honda, as well as regulatory/inspection bodies such as General Dynamics Land Systems. This requires the ability to interpret and respond to customer quality concerns and warranty findings, communicate root cause and corrective action clearly to non-internal audiences, and manage the relationship professionally even when delivering difficult news. Includes experience supporting customer audits, inspections (e.g., GP12), and ongoing performance reporting.

• Product Development & NPI

  • Ability to support quality throughout the product lifecycle, from legacy product sustaining (helm, pivot, hose, kitting) through new product introduction. This includes working cross-functionally with Design Engineering during development to build quality and manufacturability considerations into new designs, supporting early-stage risk identification, and ensuring quality processes and documentation are in place before a product transitions into full production. Familiarity with how engineering changes and process improvements affect an in-production or newly launched product is essential.

• Analytics

  • Comfortable working with data to track and improve quality performance, including monitoring cost-of-quality KPIs, external warranty data, and Monozukuri Level Evaluation results over time. Able to build and maintain reporting (e.g., in Excel) that surfaces trends, aging issues, and training/adoption gaps to leadership, and to use that data to prioritize where training, process changes, or corrective action will have the greatest impact. Strong attention to detail when analyzing defect data to distinguish root cause from symptoms.
