Senior Planner

The opportunity

Join Downer Energy & Utilities as a Senior Planner and play a key role in the successful delivery of major infrastructure projects across Australia.

Reporting to the Planning Manager, you will be responsible for developing, maintaining and monitoring project schedules across tender and delivery phases. You will work closely with project, procurement, construction and client stakeholders to provide accurate planning insights, identify schedule risks and drive successful project outcomes.

This role will ideally be based from our Brisbane office in Milton however flexibility on location for the right candidate may be considered.

Key responsibilities include:

• Develop and maintain detailed project schedules using Primavera P6
• Prepare tender and delivery schedules aligned to contract requirements and project objectives
• Develop resource loaded and cost loaded programs that support project execution
• Facilitate schedule reviews, critical path workshops and planning sessions
• Monitor project performance and provide schedule analysis and reporting
• Review delay events and undertake delay analysis and mitigation planning
• Assess supplier and subcontractor schedules for quality, completeness and progress performance
• Support project controls activities including earned value and schedule performance reporting
• Prepare planning reports, dashboards and project status updates
• Partner with project teams to identify risks, opportunities and schedule improvements
• Provide guidance and mentoring to planners across the business

What we're looking for

• Extensive experience in project planning and scheduling within infrastructure, utilities, power, water, transmission, substation, network or shutdown projects
• Advanced Primavera P6 scheduling capability
• Strong understanding of critical path methodology and delay analysis techniques
• Experience developing and managing complex project schedules throughout the project lifecycle
• Experience using InEight, NSP, Power BI and Oracle databases or Microsoft Visio
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills

Desirable qualifications and experience:

• Degree qualification in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, Quantity Surveying or a related discipline
• Project Management certification
• Experience preparing Extension of Time claims and undertaking gap analysis
