Service Technician

Downer is seeking a skilled Telecommunications Service Technician to join our team based in Greymouth - supporting the delivery, maintenance and restoration of critical telecommunications services.
This is a hands on field role where you'll undertake a mix of connects, fault response, sky installations and servicing, taking ownership of allocated sites and ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently and to a high standard. You'll work closely with Field Managers, engineers, customers and other technicians while building strong relationships and delivering excellent service outcomes.

Key responsibilities include:

• • Installing, commissioning, servicing and repairing telecommunications equipment and services.

• • Responding to customer faults and restoration activities within contractual response times.

• • Undertaking Sky installation and service work.

• • Managing allocated sites, ensuring quality, compliance and safe work practices are maintained.

• • Completing required documentation, records and reporting accurately and on time.

• • Building positive customer relationships and identifying opportunities for additional chargeable works where appropriate.

• • Participating in an on-call and callout roster as required.

Ngā pūkenga matua | What We're Looking For
We're looking for a practical, customer-focused technician who takes pride in quality workmanship and puts safety first.

You'll bring:

• • NZQA Level 3 Telecommunications qualification or equivalent industry experience.

• • Experience in telecommunications service delivery, maintenance and fault finding.

• • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving ability.

• • Experience working independently in the field and managing your own workload.

• • A commitment to Zero Harm and safe work practices.

• • Excellent communication and customer relationship skills.

• • The ability to work collaboratively with customers, technicians and operational teams.

• • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.

• • A full New Zealand Driver Licence.

• • Willingness to participate in an on-call roster and after-hours fault response. 

• Experience across customer connections, broadband services, fault restoration, Sky services or wider telecommunications networks will be highly regarded.
